Job Description:
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Murex Developer and Front Office Subject Matter Expert to join our Global Murex Development team, which has a presence across London, Toronto, and Singapore.
The successful candidate will provide deep functional and technical expertise across the Murex Front Office and pre-trade areas. This individual will assess the current Front Office configuration, identify opportunities for standardization and redesign, and deliver sustainable solutions aligned with business and technology requirements.
The role requires strong knowledge of pre-trade and Front Office configurations, including currency pairs, archiving groups, curves, fixings, trade lifecycle processes, FX spot-date rolls, GOM, and typical end-of-day processes.
Over time, the successful candidate will establish themselves as a key point of contact for Murex Front Office functionality, document the configuration, and transfer specialist knowledge to the wider team. The role will also contribute to broader Murex development, integration, testing, and platform-change activities
Key Accountabilities
- Analyse business and technology requirements and translate them into effective Murex functional and technical solutions.
- Conduct a detailed review of the existing Murex Front Office and pre-trade configurations.
- Identify opportunities to standardize, simplify, and redesign Front Office configurations and processes.
- Configure and enhance Murex functionality relating to currency pairs, archiving groups, curves, fixings, trade lifecycle processes, FX spot-date rolls, GOM, and end-of-day processing.
- Design solutions that align with applicable technical standards and emphasize resilience, maintainability, and long-term supportability.
- Contribute to software development involving Murex and associated interfaces.
- Support Murex integration, migration, upgrade, and platform-change initiatives.
- Perform unit testing and prepare software releases for production deployment.
- Work with Business Analysts, Architects, Test Analysts, and technology representatives to design and validate solutions.
- Develop relevant test scenarios based on functional and technical requirements.
- Troubleshoot Front Office configuration, workflow, data, batch, and environmental issues.
- Support end users and resolve issues associated with core Murex activities.
- Liaise with Murex as the platform vendor to validate the compatibility of proposed integration designs with the internal system configuration.
- Produce clear functional, configuration, and technical documentation.
- Lead knowledge-transfer activities and support the development of Murex capability within the wider team.
Work within the agile delivery framework established for the project team.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience delivering Murex solutions within banking, capital markets, or financial services environments.
- Significant hands-on experience with Murex Front Office modules, including configuration, troubleshooting, and solution design.
- Strong experience with Murex pre-trade configuration and Front Office workflows.
- Demonstrated Murex development experience, including integration, migration, or upgrade delivery.
- Experience supporting an FX Cash business or technology environment.
- Strong understanding of front-to-back banking processes.
- Strong understanding of financial products, derivatives, risk, and profit and loss concepts.
- Thorough understanding of the Murex trade lifecycle and mxpress workflow phases, including contracts, events, and deliverables.
- Experience configuring currency pairs, curves, fixings, archiving groups, FX spot-date rolls, and other relevant Front Office components.
- Experience with typical Murex end-of-day processes.
- Demonstrated experience working across the full software development life cycle.
- Strong UNIX and SQL skills, including scripting.
- Strong knowledge of core Murex modules and features, including system configuration, troubleshooting, and end-user support.
- Ability to assess an existing configuration, recommend improvements, and translate recommendations into maintainable solutions.
- Strong experience producing functional and technical documentation and transferring knowledge to other team members.
- College or university degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Finance, or another relevant numerically focused discipline.
Murex Technical Knowledge
- Front Office: Deep specialist knowledge of Murex Front Office modules and their configuration.
- Pre-trade: Strong experience configuring and supporting pre-trade processes, rules, and sequences.
- Market configuration: Experience with currency pairs, curves, fixings, archiving groups, FX spot-date rolls, GOM, and related Front Office configurations.
- Workflows: Pre-trade and post-trade workflow development, including workflow design, transformations, interfaces, XSLT, and MSL.
- Trade lifecycle: Thorough knowledge of the Murex trade lifecycle and mxpress workflow phases, including contracts, events, and deliverables.
- End-of-day processing: Strong knowledge of Murex end-of-day processes, batch analysis, optimization, and reporting.
- Data: Strong working knowledge of the Murex data model and experience constructing queries to investigate or manipulate data.
- Reporting: Experience with Murex FINDB and Datamart configuration.
- Market data: Working knowledge of Murex market-data functionality and its connections to Front Office processes.
- Technical architecture: Knowledge of performance-monitoring services, memory allocation, logging, and environmental troubleshooting.
- Integration: Experience developing or supporting interfaces between Murex and associated systems.
