  • Role Summary:
  • The Senior Operations Analyst supports revenue cycle operations by driving accurate, timely work across authorization, accounts receivable, and revenue cycle management processes. This hybrid role is based in Chennai, India , and is designed for someone with experience in healthcare operations and life sciences-related workflows. The position will report to the Operations Manager .
  • Team Summary:
  • athenahealth offers a variety of Revenue Cycle Management services to its clients in supporting their continued revenue growth. Operations teams manage a significant share of the organization’s service delivery and play a key role in maintaining quality, efficiency, and customer outcomes. The Senior Operations Analyst is responsible for executing operational tasks accurately and on time, supporting process adherence, and contributing to steady performance across assigned workstreams. This role works closely with internal teams to support day-to-day operations, identify process improvements, and help maintain consistency in client-facing service delivery.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute revenue cycle management tasks with accuracy and timeliness across assigned work queues.
  • Review and process accounts receivable (AR) work items to support resolution of outstanding claims and payment-related issues.
  • Manage authorization-related activities, including validation, tracking, and follow-up to support service continuity.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve workflow performance.
  • Coordinate with internal partners to resolve process gaps and support smooth handoffs across teams.
  • Maintain documentation and updates related to work status, exceptions, and operational outcomes.
  • Support quality standards by following established procedures and escalating issues when needed.
  • Apply artificial intelligence (AI) tools when appropriate to improve productivity, organize information, and support faster learning of new workflows and tools.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to simplify or streamline routine work.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable operational standards, customer expectations, and internal policies.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with training or onboarding support for new team members as needed.
  • Participate in team huddles, process reviews, and operational check-ins.
  • Help document recurring issues and recommend practical workflow adjustments.
  • Support audit preparation and information gathering for internal reviews.
  • Collaborate on special projects related to revenue cycle operations or process improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.

Expected Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in healthcare operations, revenue cycle management, or a related business process environment.
  • Experience in Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) , Accounts Receivable (AR) , and authorization workflows.
  • Experience working with life sciences or healthcare-related operational processes preferred.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, billing cycles, claims follow-up, or payment resolution workflows.
  • Ability to analyze operational data, identify patterns, and support process improvement.
  • Proficiency with common business tools such as spreadsheets, workflow trackers, and reporting systems.
  • Clear communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and documenting work accurately.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model from Chennai, India and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, up to NA% annually .
