We are seeking a Senior or Principal Civil Airport Engineer to join our growing Aviation team. You’ll play a vital role in delivering exciting opportunities across a wide range of UK and international airport projects. We are well established at all major UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, and continue to expand our portfolio of overseas commissions. Working on projects ranging from airfield pavements, taxiways and apron developments through to terminal-related infrastructure, drainage, highways and landside developments, you will help deliver solutions that enhance airport capacity, operational resilience, passenger experience and sustainable growth.
As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership, mentor developing engineers, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams and airport clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. With opportunities to contribute to some of the industry's most significant airport programmes, including major expansion projects, airfield upgrades and long-term asset management initiatives, you will support projects through all stages of the lifecycle, from feasibility and master planning through to design, construction and operational handover.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Engineer looking to apply their expertise across a diverse and high-profile aviation portfolio while developing towards technical leadership, project leadership or people management pathways.
When you join us, you'll become part of a collaborative community of aviation specialists helping to shape the future of air travel, delivering nationally significant infrastructure and driving engineering innovation and excellence across the aviation sector.
You’ll benefit from:
- Working on major UK and international airport infrastructure projects.
- Shaping nationally significant programmes at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and beyond.
- A strong pipeline of work across established airport clients and growing international commissions.
- Influencing projects from concept and master planning through to delivery.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary aviation specialists across the UK and globally.
- Developing your technical, project and leadership capabilities.
- Clear career progression pathways and professional development opportunities.
Your role
The role offers broad project exposure, technical development, and clear opportunities for progression within a collaborative and growing team.
You will:
- Lead the delivery of civil engineering solutions for airport infrastructure projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, efficient and sustainable airport infrastructure solutions.
- Act as a technical lead, providing guidance, technical assurance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and design packages.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airport operators, clients, stakeholders and project partners.
- Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of emerging technologies and best practice.
- Identify opportunities to enhance project outcomes and deliver additional value for clients, airport users and local communities.
About you
We're interested in people who are technically strong, commercially aware and genuinely enjoy collaborative working.
We are looking for people who demonstrate a willingness to learn, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively within diverse project teams.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Airfield and infrastructure design experience, including successful delivery of schemes from concept to detailed design
- A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered or Incorporated status with ICE or an equivalent institution OR extensive experience and the ability to become chartered within 12 months.
- Knowledge of either Airport or Highways pavement design, materials specification and maintenance with an appreciation of principles and application of UK and international pavement design methods.
- Experience in leading engineering teams in the delivery of high-quality design deliverables
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build client relationships and support work-winning activities.
- Ability to prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
