Senior Paid Social Account Manager

About the role

Artefact is looking for an experienced Senior Paid Social Account Manager to take senior ownership of paid social activity across two key client accounts.

This is a hands-on role combining account strategy, technical auditing, campaign management, optimisation, performance analysis and senior client management. The successful candidate will be expected to understand the detail of platform execution while also providing clear strategic direction and identifying opportunities to grow client performance and the wider relationship.

Strong Meta expertise is essential. The person should be able to inherit an existing account, independently assess whether the setup is technically and strategically sound, identify weaknesses or missed opportunities, prioritise improvements and lead their implementation.

The role will initially focus on two clients, allowing the Senior Paid Social Account Manager to build a deep understanding of their businesses, act as a trusted paid social adviser and take genuine accountability for account quality and performance.

Key responsibilities

Account leadership and client strategy

Act as the senior day-to-day paid social lead for the assigned clients, owning the relationship for the channel and ensuring consistently high-quality delivery.

Develop a deep understanding of each client’s business model, commercial priorities, customer journey and wider media strategy.

Translate business objectives into clear paid social strategies, investment recommendations, testing roadmaps and activation plans.

Present strategic recommendations, performance insights and account priorities confidently to senior client stakeholders.

Challenge existing approaches constructively and proactively identify opportunities to improve performance or expand the role of paid social.

Coordinate with Search, Programmatic, Retail Media, Commerce, Influencer, Creative and Data teams to provide integrated recommendations.

Support annual, quarterly and campaign-level planning, including budget allocation, forecasting and scenario planning.

Meta account audits and technical setup

A core part of the role will be independently assessing whether existing Meta environments are correctly structured for activation, optimisation and measurement.

Business Portfolio / Business Manager setup, permissions and governance.

Ad account structure and campaign architecture.

Domain, page, Instagram and other asset configuration.

Meta Pixel, Conversions API, events and conversion optimisation setup.

Data quality, event match quality and potential tracking gaps.

Product catalogues, feeds and commerce integrations where relevant.

Audience strategy, exclusions and first-party data activation.

Budget, bidding and optimisation configuration.

Attribution and measurement settings.

Naming conventions, campaign taxonomy and account governance.

Creative, placement and format setup.

Account-level automated settings and relevant platform recommendations.

Integration with analytics, ecommerce and measurement environments.

The Senior Paid Social Account Manager should be able to document audit findings clearly, distinguish critical issues from lower-priority improvements, build an action plan and either implement or coordinate the required changes.

Paid social strategy and planning

Develop paid social strategies aligned with client business, media and commercial objectives.

Define the role of different paid social platforms, audiences, creative formats and campaign objectives within the wider media mix.

Build structured testing roadmaps covering audiences, creative, formats, placements, bidding and new platform capabilities.

Recommend how paid social should work alongside influencer and creator activity, including paid amplification of creator content.

Identify opportunities to improve incrementality, efficiency and scale rather than focusing solely on platform-reported performance.

Provide clear recommendations on where investment should be increased, reduced or reallocated.

Campaign management and optimisation

Retain sufficient hands-on involvement to understand account performance and ensure execution remains strong.

Oversee campaign setup, structures, audiences, bidding, budgets, placements and creative deployment.

Ensure campaigns are launched accurately and on time, with appropriate QA and measurement foundations.

Monitor pacing and performance against agreed objectives and proactively identify issues.

Lead optimisation decisions and ensure actions are based on evidence rather than routine platform changes.

Maintain strong account hygiene, documentation and platform best practice.

Review work completed by more junior team members where relevant and provide clear guidance and quality control.

Platform expertise

Meta

Advanced hands-on Meta experience is essential. The successful candidate should be highly confident across:

Meta Ads Manager and Business Portfolio / Business Manager.

Campaign architecture and account restructuring.

Audience strategy and first-party data activation.

Advantage+ solutions.

Conversion, catalogue and ecommerce campaigns.

Creative testing and Reels/video formats.

Partnership Ads and creator-led paid amplification.

Pixel, Conversions API, events and conversion optimisation.

Product catalogues and feeds.

Budget and bidding strategies.

Attribution, measurement and experimentation.

Account troubleshooting, audits and governance.

The person should be comfortable inheriting an account they have never seen before and quickly determining whether the foundations are strong, what is limiting performance and whether restructuring is required.

TikTok

Strong TikTok Ads experience is highly desirable, including:

Campaign setup, optimisation and account structure.

Spark Ads and creator-led paid amplification.

Audience and creative testing.

Performance analysis and budget optimisation.

Understanding of how paid media can connect with TikTok Shop activity where relevant.

Other platforms

Experience with additional paid social environments is beneficial, particularly:

LinkedIn Campaign Manager.

Pinterest.

YouTube / Google video environments.

Emerging social and creator-led advertising platforms.

The successful candidate does not need equal expertise across every platform, but should be curious, adaptable and able to expand into new environments as client needs evolve.

Performance, measurement and insights

Analyse performance across campaigns, audiences, creatives, placements and conversion journeys.

Explain the drivers behind performance changes rather than simply report results.

Translate platform metrics into clear commercial implications and recommendations.

Work with analytics specialists where deeper measurement support is required.

Support experimentation, incrementality, attribution and other measurement initiatives where relevant.

Ensure reporting focuses on decisions and next actions, not only retrospective performance.

Maintain accurate budget tracking, campaign documentation and key account-change records.

Creative and creator collaboration

Paid social performance increasingly depends on creative quality. The role will therefore work closely with clients, creative teams and influencer specialists.

Develop creative testing frameworks and identify high-performing themes, formats and messages.

Translate campaign data into actionable creative recommendations.

Advise on platform-specific creative best practice.

Identify opportunities to use influencer and creator content within paid campaigns.

Recommend opportunities for Spark Ads, Partnership Ads and other creator-led formats.

Feed paid-media learnings back into future content and creator planning.

Commercial ownership and capability development
