ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced, highly collaborative Power BI Developer on a project basis to design, develop and deliver high-impact Portfolio & Financial Dashboards for an enterprise client. You will combine deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and clear communication to bridge the gap between technical data structures and executive reporting needs.

You will integrate data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365 F&O), SharePoint Lists, Microsoft Teams Planner and Excel using common identifiers (e.g., Project Number, PO Number). You will also build drill-down capabilities (from the overall portfolio view to detailed project pages), trend and trajectory analyses, and key performance metrics (SPI/CPI, resource utilization, cash flow tracking) across multiple data sources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Dashboard Development & Visualization

  • Design, build and optimize interactive Power BI dashboards for Project Portfolio Management and Financial Analysis.
  • Create executive-level summary screens with seamless drill-down into Detailed Project Pages.
  • Build dynamic visualizations for cost and schedule performance, including SPI (Schedule Performance Index) and CPI (Cost Performance Index) historical trends (3 to 4 month history) and trajectory forecasting (1 month ahead).
  • Model and showcase risk registers, leadership actions, cash flows (in/out), milestone splits and vendor purchase order registers.

2. Data Integration & Modeling

  • Establish relationship models connecting multiple disparate data sources:
  • Dynamics 365 (D365 F&O): Projects, Financials, POs, Base Resource Data
  • SharePoint Lists: Risk Registers, Split Milestone Trackers
  • Microsoft Teams Planner: Project & Leadership Actions
  • Excel / Custom Repositories: SPI/CPI manual inputs, project details, resource tracking
  • Establish relationship keys across systems using Project Number and PO Number.
  • Write complex, optimized DAX calculations for delivery confidence, risk profile scores, milestone progress and financial forecasts.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Requirement Refining

  • Work closely with technical leads, planning engineers, QS teams and client executives to translate high-level business goals into precise dashboard deliverables.
  • Actively participate in discovery calls, requirement gathering sessions and effort estimation reviews.
  • Handle ambiguity proactively: identify missing data sources, suggest pragmatic workarounds (e.g., temporary Excel/SharePoint repositories) and set clear expectations.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Power BI & DAX: 3+ years of hands-on expertise building enterprise Power BI reports, advanced DAX measures, custom visual configurations, bookmarks and drill-through actions.
  • Data Sources & Integration: Direct experience integrating data from Dynamics 365 (D365 F&O), SharePoint Online, Microsoft Planner and Excel.
  • Data Modeling: Strong proficiency in star/snowflake schema design, primary/foreign key mappings across disparate systems, and data normalization.
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of project management metrics (SPI, CPI, Risk Scoring, Resource Utilization) and financial indicators (In/Out Cash Flow, Awaiting Payments, Purchase Orders, Milestones).
  • SQL & Data Preparation: Advanced SQL skills for data verification, extraction and schema mapping.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience with standard D365 Finance & Operations schemas.
  • Experience implementing predictive/trend lines or AI-assisted delivery confidence calculations in Power BI.
  • Proven track record of estimating effort accurately and delivering project-based BI solutions on time.
