Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs across multiple states for projects and service groups. This role includes leading a team of safety professionals, overseeing compliance, conducting audits, and ensuring a safe work environment across our Deep Foundations division. The Senior Safety Manager will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and company leadership to foster a strong safety culture aligned with regulatory standards and corporate objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, particularly in deep foundations, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment operations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of safety managers, coordinators, and consultants spanning multiple regions.
Establish goals and objectives for the safety team, monitor performance, and conduct regular feedback sessions to promote growth and accountability.
Serve as a strategic partner to senior management, advising on best practices and emerging trends in construction safety.
Safety Program Development and Implementation
Design and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs that align with OSHA, state regulations, and industry best practices.
Conduct hazard assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies for all projects.
Oversee the preparation of site-specific safety plans and ensure they are tailored to the unique risks of each project.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and DOT, across all project locations.
Conduct regular audits and inspections across sites to identify and resolve non-compliance issues.
Coordinate with regulatory bodies and serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and inspections.
Stay abreast of industry trends and regulations, maintain certifications, and seek continuous avenues for department growth and improvement.
Incident Response and Investigation
Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Maintain and analyze safety data and metrics, using insights to reduce incidents and improve overall safety performance.
Develop and present safety reports to senior leadership, covering incident trends, audit results, and improvement plans.
Training and Communication
Develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, policies, and emergency response.
Promote safety awareness through regular communication, updates, and engagement activities.
Serve as a safety liaison with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment on safety goals.
Conduct safety orientations for new supervisors and subcontractors.
Create and deliver safety training to employees within service groups, both field and office personnel.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in a safety and health-related discipline and seven or more years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction safety, with a focus on civil construction and experience in multiple states.
OSHA 30 Certification. In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and industry best practices.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Strong leadership and team development skills with a commitment to fostering a positive safety culture.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and propose actionable solutions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage team members and project stakeholders.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects across multiple locations.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Advanced Safety Certificate(s) (OHST, CHST, CSP).
OSHA 500 Certification.
Confined Space, HAZWOPER, DOT, and MSHA training.
Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License and current medical card.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Provides leadership and supervision to Safety Manager(s), Safety Specialist(s), and Safety Consultants supporting assigned service groups.
Hires, trains, coaches, develops, and reviews direct reports in accordance with company policy.
Sets clear expectations, provides timely feedback, and addresses performance or conduct concerns promptly and appropriately.
Ensures new hires are properly onboarded and trained, and supports cross-training to promote continued employee development.
Promotes compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies within assigned areas of responsibility.
OTHER:
This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon passing a drug and alcohol screening, which may include testing for marijuana in accordance with Company policy and applicable laws.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
Requires 8- to 10-hour workdays Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends and overtime may be required.
Willingness to travel frequently across project sites in multiple states, estimated at 50% to 70%.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently communicates with employees, clients, and project teams and must be able to exchange accurate information. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, 50% or more; use a computer, laptop, or iPad in an office environment with natural and/or fluorescent lighting; move throughout office and jobsite locations; attend off-site meetings or events; and lift up to 35 pounds unassisted.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee works in both office and field/jobsite environments. Field and jobsite work includes frequent travel to construction sites to provide safety oversight, conduct inspections, observe work activities, and address safety-related concerns. Jobsite conditions may include variable weather, uneven or unstable terrain, dust, dirt, loud noise, heavy equipment, moving machinery, electrical hazards, and other construction-related risks. The employee must wear required personal protective equipment, such as a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and a high-visibility vest, as required by site conditions.

Additional Job Description:
Base Compensation: $125,000 - $145,000
The base salary range may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
