Why Numeric

Every business runs on accounting, but the systems underneath it were built for a different era. Today’s ERPs don’t store a company’s financial data. They store a diluted copy of it. Every contract, lease, and invoice gets flattened into a journal entry, and the context that made it meaningful is thrown away. That’s why accounting teams spend every month re-checking numbers, stitching together spreadsheets, and waiting on engineering, and why AI struggles to do real accounting work. Accounting doesn’t have a reporting problem. It has a data problem.

Enter Numeric: the data platform finance teams run on. We started with the month-end close, where the data problem hurts most, and hundreds of finance teams now run their close on Numeric. That work led us to rebuild the system of record itself. In September 2026 we launched the Financial Data Platform (FDP) , a platform built for the agent era. Instead of a journal entry, the real business object enters the system and the accounting is derived from it. Every number is traceable to its source, reporting works on any dimension, and accountants and AI agents finally have enough context to work together. While others bolted AI features onto the old data model, we built a new one.

We have a growing base of customers who love our product, including Anthropic, Plaid, Brex, Betterment, Wealthfront, and Asana. We’ve raised $89M from top-tier investors including IVP, Menlo Ventures, Founders Fund, and 8VC, along with founders and executives from Ramp, Segment, and other category-defining companies. We’re hybrid but in-office first, with teams in New York, San Francisco, and London, and we just shipped the product that will define our next decade. There’s never been a better time to join.

About This Role

We're scaling fast, and the SEs we hire now will be foundational to Numeric's growth trajectory.

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you'll be the technical expert supporting our sales team, helping finance leaders understand how Numeric solves their most complex accounting challenges. The product is moving fast, customers are getting more sophisticated, and the SE role is at the center of every major win. We're looking for a Senior SE who has operated at the highest level of technical selling, someone who can walk into a room with a CFO and own it, build the playbooks our team runs on, and help shape what world-class presales looks like at a company on the rise.

What You'll Do

Lead complex enterprise demos, discovery sessions, statements of work (SOWs), and proof-of-concept (POC) engagements independently across mid-market and enterprise accounts

Partner closely with Account Executives to develop technical win strategies and drive deals forward

Build deep credibility with senior finance stakeholders including CFOs, Controllers, and VPs of Finance as a trusted domain expert

Mentor and coach other SEs on accounting domain knowledge and the craft of technical selling

Gather and synthesize customer feedback to inform product roadmap priorities. Partner closely with PMM and product to shape the future of the platform

Develop and maintain reusable demo environments, technical collateral, and enablement materials for the broader team

Use AI tools (Claude, MCP, and whatever comes next) to scale demos, research, and deal prep, and help the team do the same

About You

6-12+ years of total experience with 3+ years as a customer-facing SE at a finance or finance-adjacent platform, such as an ERP, FP&A tool, Billing & Revenue tool, etc.

Deep accounting and finance domain expertise with the ability to credibly converse with CFOs and Controllers from day one

Proven track record independently running complex enterprise demos, SOWs, POCs, and discovery

Based in SF or NYC

Nice To Haves

Experience building or contributing to an SE function at a high-growth startup

CPA or formal accounting background

Familiarity with accounting close management or financial reporting workflows

How We Work

This role is hybrid in New York or San Francisco (hybrid but in-office first, with flexibility to manage your schedule as you see fit).

We strongly believe we will only be successful if everyone on the team is anchored in our following set of core principles:

Brick by Brick: To win, our team needs to show up and execute in each domain every day.

Love the Game: We focus on the craft and a deep sense of giving a f*ck. We're building a company full of people who are equally engaged and motivated.

SALY: We refuse to accept "Same As Last Year." For too long, accounting and finance systems have reflected outdated processes instead of reimagining what's possible. We're driven by a first-principles approach to building better solutions.

Own the Outcome: We own our results. We typically hire builders and give them large mandates with high-trust. Engineers are responsible not just for code, but for ensuring the product is solving the end problems of the users.

Earn the right: We're impatient to deliver results. We relentlessly iterate, measure, and improve. Every day is an opportunity to beat our prior best, raising the bar for the value we deliver to customers. E Pluribus Unum-eric.
