Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Predictive Analytics, the Senior Software Engineer will contribute to the technical development of Aquatic Informatics' predictive analytics products. These solutions support our customers in leveraging intelligent water technologies to protect the environment and human health. In this role, you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, domain experts, and business leaders to design, build, and operate cutting-edge predictive analytics products that leverage AI and ML.
This position is part of the Engineering Team in Vancouver, Canada, and will be Remote, with optional in-office collaboration on Wednesdays.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
Work on cutting edge applications that detect sensor anomalies, digital twins that simulate water treatment plants, and LLM power agents that synthesize water data to deliver critical intelligence to our customers.
Own features end to end: requirements, technical design, implementation, code review, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
Build and operate cloud-native services on AWS and Azure that scale with demand.
Write clean and scalable frontend (Angular) and backend (C#) code.
Champion AI adoption and push the boundaries on how AI can automate and accelerate our software development lifecycle processes while following AI governance best practices .
Drive continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and team health.
Manage and enhance development infrastructure, including build and test systems.
Improve testing frameworks and contribute to unit, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) testing.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of industry experience in designing, building, and operating large-scale, data-intensive, cloud-native applications using microservices architectures on AWS or Azure.
Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
Strong background in Microsoft development (.NET, C#, and related technologies).
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Genuine interest in using AI to accelerate software development.
Hands-on experience with agentic engineering and AI-assisted development workflows.
Preferred skills:
Expertise in database design and development using SQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
Background in environmental science, time series data, IoT, or industrial controls is an asset.
Exposure to data science or machine learning concepts. Deep AI/ML expertise is not required.
Led and mentor junior developers.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The compensation range for this role is $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 CAD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.

The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
