Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to optimize/automate our engineering, process, and operational workflows. This role will be referred to as Automation Engineer or similar in the corresponding project context to support and enhance our digital content production and publishing workflows. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication to help automate processes, improve efficiency, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality digital content.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for digital content production and publishing workflows.

Create and manage scripts to automate repetitive tasks and streamline operational processes.

Work with structured content and data formats to support content transformation and delivery.

Troubleshoot workflow issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

Collaborate with editorial, production, and technology teams to ensure smooth project execution.

Monitor publishing workflows and proactively communicate risks, dependencies, and potential bottlenecks.

Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the content lifecycle.

Contribute to process improvement initiatives and recommend automation opportunities.

Required Skills

Problem Solving & Critical Thinking

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to independently identify issues and develop practical solutions.

Self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Node JS, Extend script

Proficiency in working with structured data formats such as JSON, and CSV.

Solid understanding of HTML and CSS.

Communication & Collaboration

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Awareness of project dependencies and the ability to communicate status, risks, and blockers proactively.

Technical Skills

Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Node JS, Extend script

Proficiency in working with structured data formats such as JSON and CSV.

Solid understanding of HTML and CSS.

Experience with digital content creation, transformation, and publishing workflows.

Familiarity with content management systems and publishing pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with digital publishing, educational publishing, or content production environments.

Familiarity with workflow automation tools and content transformation processes.

Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and scripting is a plus.

Experience working with XML-based publishing systems is an advantage.

Experience

2-5 years of relevant experience in automation, digital publishing, content operations, or a related field.
