At Trella Health, our mission is simple: empowering meaningful change in healthcare.

We are building AI-enabled intelligence and workflows that help healthcare organizations make smarter decisions, strengthen operations, and support healthier outcomes for patients. Our platform connects health systems and post-acute providers through actionable intelligence and connected workflows that improve how care is coordinated across the healthcare continuum.

That work starts with our people. Trellavators are collaborative, curious, and committed to doing meaningful work that makes a measurable impact. We move quickly, support each other, keep our commitments, and continuously look for better ways to serve our customers and one another.

If you are excited by the opportunity to grow your career while helping shape the future of healthcare intelligence, workflows, and outcomes, we would love to meet you.

Position Overview:

The Clinical Solutions Development team is a fast-moving, high-quality group focused on solving one of healthcare’s most complex challenges: patient discharge. We are expanding the scope of our work and the team to solve it. To help us do that, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the data-driven healthcare solutions. You'll own significant pieces of our architecture, set technical direction, and raise the bar for engineering quality across the team. This is a hands-on role for someone who writes excellent code and elevates the people and systems around them.

We operate like a startup within a larger organization–highly collaborative, often challenging status quo, and always looking to get better. If you’re excited about building something meaningful (and having fun while you do it), we’d love to meet you.

Location: This is a hybrid position requiring 1 day a week in our Philadelphia office.

Reports to: Manager, Software Engineering

As a Senior Software Engineer at Trella, you will:

Design complex, scalable systems; review code; maintain technical documentation and diagrams ensuring best practices.

Resolve challenging issues; optimize performance and reliability; lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Build cloud-native solutions; support CI/CD, automation, containerization; collaborate on infrastructure provisioning and monitoring.

Apply security best practices; mitigate risks; ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Drive engineering excellence by defining best practices in testing, documentation, and observability.

Mentor engineers; share expertise; foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning culture.

Architect and implement efficient API integration patterns to build backend services, collaborate with front-end engineers to define API contracts, and ensure seamless data flow between systems.

Partner closely with cross-functional teams in design, product, and other business units.

Take ownership in product features that drive Trella’s mission.

Improve the team through the process and/or technical contributions.

Be results-driven: We prosper by delivering value to our customers. We need each team member to be customer-centric and focusing on actions that provide value to the customer

This job might be a fit for you if you have:

7+ years of software development, including experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.

Expert proficiency in programming languages and API development (Java, Python, JavaScript, REST) with a strong understanding of architectural patterns and system design.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

Experience working with RESTful APIs and system integrations.

Solid understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility standards.

Good understanding of JSON, SQL, and GIT actions.

Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and logging.

A constant desire to grow, learn and explore new things.

Experience developing applications for healthcare is a plus.
