Position Summary

In this role you will design, develop, test, and deliver software while working closely with product managers, business stakeholders, architects and data scientists to deliver small, independently demonstrable increments. The role will be part of a team that leverages AI-DLC to support software development through structured work items, repository guidance, automated implementation, pull requests, testing, and continuous feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable applications, services, APIs, and user experiences.
  • Build cohesive solutions that support the movement of information, decisions, workflows, and actions across business processes.
  • Create platform capabilities that support consistent, traceable, and data-informed decisions.
  • Develop secure REST APIs and event-driven integrations using appropriate messaging and Kafka-based patterns.
  • Help develop AI-enabled and agentic systems that improve how users understand information, make decisions, identify actions, and manage work.
  • Write unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests.
  • Contribute to observability, accessibility, security, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Participate in technical design, refinement, code reviews, demonstrations, and continuous improvement.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly and validate generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
  • Contribute to repository guidance, reusable engineering patterns, technical documentation, and the Software Factory workflow.
  • Mentor other engineers and promote consistent engineering practices across the workstream.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience developing production software using Java and Spring Boot or comparable backend technology.
  • Experience building modern web applications using React and TypeScript or comparable frontend technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and distributed services.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query development, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with cloud-native development and deployment.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and source-control workflows.
  • Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, secure coding, and data protection.
  • Ability to work effectively with product, architecture, data, quality engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience delivering functionality incrementally through small, independently testable units of work.
  • Ability to understand the user and business problem before implementing a solution.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and attention to detail from requirements through delivery and production support.
  • Collaborates effectively and communicates clearly with product, engineering, data, quality, architecture, and business stakeholders.
  • Welcomes feedback, exercises sound judgment, continuously improves, and balances delivery speed with quality, security, maintainability, and long-term value.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Kafka, Confluent, event-driven architecture, or asynchronous processing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, AKS, Helm, JFrog, Harness, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems and third-party platforms.
  • Experience working with large-scale data, data quality, master data, analytics, or data platforms.
  • Experience with AI- or ML-enabled applications, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, or AI output evaluation.
  • Familiarity with domain-driven design, bounded contexts, event storming, or API-first design.
  • Experience working in an AI-native or Software Factory development model.
  • Knowledge of accessibility, observability, feature flags, and production monitoring practices.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $102,400.00 to $179,000.00.

This position is also incentive eligible.
