Why Box needs you:

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Desktop Applications team at Box, you'll be at the heart of building and evolving the products that millions of users rely on every day - Box Drive, Box Tools, and Box for Office on both Windows and macOS. You'll work across the full depth of the desktop stack, from virtual file systems and OS integrations to sync, networking, and UI, helping shape how enterprise content comes to life on the desktop. You'll collaborate closely with Product Managers, QA engineers, and designers to deliver features that are fast, reliable, and secure - and you'll bring a growth mindset and a passion for leveraging AI tools to accelerate your impact.

What you'll do:

Design, develop, and ship high-quality features for Box's desktop applications (Box Drive, Box Tools, Box for Office) on Windows and macOS, ensuring they are performant, user-friendly, and secure

Work across the full desktop stack — including virtual file systems, data persistence, OS integrations, network and sync layers, and UI — to solve complex technical challenges at scale

Contribute to cross-platform development using React Native, bridging front-end and native desktop experiences

Collaborate daily with Product Managers, QA engineers, and designers to translate requirements into robust, well-tested software

Lead and participate in design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews to uphold engineering quality and share knowledge across the team

Diagnose and resolve complex performance, reliability, and compatibility issues affecting millions of end users

Attend and engage in weekly stand-ups, team meetings, and manager 1:1s

Work collaboratively with other engineers, team members, and across teams

Play a role in developing and fostering Box culture in the Warsaw office and represent Box Poland internally and externally

Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise

5+ years of professional desktop software development experience

Proficient in C++, C#, and/or Swift, with a strong command of software design and architecture principles

Demonstrated experience building and shipping desktop applications on Windows and/or macOS

Comfortable working across the full desktop stack: virtual file systems, OS integrations, networking, sync, and UI

Experienced with unit testing and functional testing practices in an agile team environment

Passionate about building software that is user-friendly, performant, and secure

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues

Able to assess, communicate, and complete project milestones with your manager and team members in a time-sensitive manner

Must speak English proficiently

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Windows systems-level programming (Win32 APIs, multi-threading, IPC, COM)

Cross-platform development experience across both macOS and Windows

Prior experience using AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as part of your daily workflow

Percentage of Time Spent:
