About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join our fast-growing team at Read AI. As a senior member of the engineering organization, you won't just build features but will define the technical roadmap, architect scalable systems, and set the standard for code
We are looking for a technical leader who thrives in ambiguity, mentors junior talent, and builds for the long term and be a key driver in evolving our AI-driven platform. You will bridge the gap between complex backend processing and seamless, high-performance user experiences.
Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of complex, scalable web applications and distributed systems across the full stack.
Technical Excellence: Set and maintain high standards for code quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing strategies, and technical documentation.
System Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of major product areas, from initial discovery and system design to deployment and post-launch optimization.
Cross-Functional Strategy: Partner deeply with Product and Design to influence the product roadmap, ensuring technical feasibility and long-term scalability.
Performance & Reliability: Identify and resolve systemic bottlenecks in application performance, database efficiency, and frontend rendering.
Mentorship: Actively mentor mid-level and junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and engineering best practices.
DevOps Culture: Drive improvements in our CI/CD pipelines, observability, and infrastructure-as-code to enhance developer velocity.
Requirements:
6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a significant portion spent building and scaling production-grade fullstack applications.
Mastery of Frontend: Expert-level knowledge of React and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of state management, performance profiling, and modern CSS strategies.
Robust Backend Expertise: Proven track record of designing high-throughput RESTful/GraphQL APIs and microservices using Node.js, Java, or Python.
Infrastructure & Data: Strong experience with AWS (or similar cloud providers) and deep proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL database design and optimization.
Systems Thinking: Demonstrated ability to design distributed systems that are resilient, observable, and easy to maintain.
Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and lead technical RFC (Request for Comments) processes.
Nice to Have:
AI/ML Integration: Experience deploying or integrating LLMs and AI-driven features into consumer-facing products.
Performance Languages: Proficiency with Rust and Tauri for high-performance desktop or system-level applications.
Startup Growth: Prior experience scaling a product from "early-stage" to "mass-market" in a high-growth environment.
Product Intuition: A strong "product sense" and the ability to make design trade-offs that favor the user experience without sacrificing technical integrity.
