At Absher Construction, our field leaders play a critical role in delivering successful projects, developing strong teams, and creating an environment where people can do their best work. We are looking for an experienced Senior Superintendent to provide leadership across complex construction projects and help develop the next generation of field leaders at Absher.

This role is responsible for the successful execution of assigned projects with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, profitability, team development, and client relationships. Depending on project needs, a Senior Superintendent may lead a major project directly, provide oversight across multiple projects, or supervise and mentor other Superintendents.

The right person for this role brings deep construction knowledge, strong leadership instincts, and the ability to step back from day-to-day execution and help project teams see what is coming next.

What You’ll Do

Lead Field Operations

Provide senior-level oversight and leadership for field operations on assigned projects.

Ensure project teams are successfully executing against safety, quality, schedule, logistics, and profitability expectations.

Work closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and the General Superintendent to identify risks and resolve issues before they impact project performance.

Monitor project progress and provide guidance when schedule, staffing, coordination, quality, or cost challenges arise.

Ensure site logistics, inspections, testing, reporting, and quality control activities are properly planned and executed.

Hold project teams accountable for established field operations processes and expectations.

Develop and Lead People

Lead, mentor, and develop Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, foremen, and other operations personnel.

Provide clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and accountability to field leaders.

Participate in performance reviews and employee development planning.

Identify development opportunities and help prepare field employees for increased responsibility.

Support recruiting and selection of strong operations talent.

Help ensure field staffing aligns with project needs and employee capabilities.

Support Project Planning and Preconstruction

Participate in preconstruction and project pursuit efforts as needed.

Perform constructability reviews and provide field input related to sequencing, logistics, staffing, cost, scheduling, and execution strategy.

Assist project teams with developing effective site logistics and pre-planning approaches.

Bring lessons learned and field experience into early project decision-making.

Build Strong Relationships

Represent Absher professionally with owners, architects, inspectors, trade partners, consultants, and other project stakeholders.

Build strong relationships with current, past, and prospective clients and industry partners.

Help manage client expectations and support positive long-term relationships.

Participate in business development and project procurement activities when appropriate.

Champion Safety and Quality

Demonstrate a visible commitment to a safe and injury-free work environment.

Hold teams accountable for maintaining strong safety practices and addressing concerns immediately.

Ensure projects follow established Quality Control programs and inspection requirements.

Promote a culture where quality, safety, and accountability are owned by the entire project team.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who has successfully led complex construction projects and is ready to influence people and projects at a broader level.

Strong candidates will bring:

10+ years of construction industry experience.

At least 5 years of construction leadership experience.

Significant experience leading field operations on complex commercial construction projects.

Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, logistics, scheduling, quality control, safety, and trade coordination.

Demonstrated experience leading and developing Superintendents and other field personnel.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, and other construction documents.

Strong understanding of how field decisions affect schedule, cost, risk, quality, and profitability.

Proven ability to identify problems early and lead teams toward practical solutions.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills across field teams, project management, clients, designers, inspectors, and trade partners.

Experience working with union craft labor and an understanding of applicable labor agreements.

OSHA 30 certification.

First Aid/CPR certification.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and construction management technology.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in active construction environments and requires regular movement throughout jobsites.

The role may include:

Extended periods of standing and walking.

Navigating stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, and unfinished surfaces.

Exposure to construction noise, dust, equipment, and varying weather conditions.

Regular use of required personal protective equipment.

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of up to 50 pounds.

Travel between project sites and Absher offices as business needs require.

Salary offers are typically made between the entry and midpoint of the range and are based on factors such as experience, education, and internal equity.

Pay Transparency

$170,000 — $200,000 USD

Background Check & Pre-Employment Screening

All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening. Background checks may include verification of employment history, education, criminal records, and references. For positions with access to company financial accounts or credit card programs, a credit history check may also be conducted.
