Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.

Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.

As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.

As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to contribute to electric propulsion system development, validation and verification activities on programs to be certifiable under the guidelines of SAE ARP4754A, up to Functional Design Assurance Level (FDAL) A.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to new program and system concept design activities, including internal new product developments, or customer-driven applications, through the technology roadmap and ultimately to system/product launch
  • Support analysis of customer requirements and management throughout the development lifecycle
  • Assist or author requirement specifications for flow down to sub-systems, suppliers and/or sub-contractor(s)
  • Author/support interface control documents and ensure alignment with internal and customer requirements
  • Collaborate with the safety & reliability, simulation, analysis, mechanical design engineers teams to assist with architecting the system
  • Evaluate the suitability of the system architecture and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Support customers, partners and suppliers with systems integration of electric motors and controllers
  • Develop system test strategies showing traceability and compliance to customer and system requirements
  • Perform system Validation and Verification test activities
  • Produce Validation and Verification evidence to support certification
  • Support resource estimation and risk management

​Skills and experience required:

  • Degree or equivalent in electrical, systems engineering or other relevant technical domain
  • Demonstrated experience of systems engineering principles throughout design, development and delivery
  • Experience with requirements and lifecycle management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, codeBeamer
  • Ability to deal with system design complexity and a degree of ambiguity
  • Creative problem solver, with a logical approach to implementing solutions
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams
  • A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
  • Self-motivated with the determination to succeed
  • An interest in continuous professional development and combining experience with new or novel techniques
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with ARP4761 (aerospace safety analysis techniques)
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods
  • Knowledge of motor control algorithms and implementation
  • Encouraging the use of development best practices and support process improvement activities.
