Opportunity Finance Network is looking to fill the position of Senior Vice President, Capital and Financing. This is a role on OFN’s Senior Leadership Team, with responsibility for strategic direction and oversight in implementation of OFN’s capital markets priorities. The incumbent will help deepen relationships with existing capital markets partners and diversify relationships with new segments. The incumbent will also collaborate effectively across multiple internal teams – with particularly collaborative relationships with OFN’s Investment Services, Finance, and External Affairs teams – to help ensure that OFN, its members, and the broader industry have the capital supply and structures to deliver impact.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Capital Markets Partnership Development and Diversification:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key capital markets partners, investors, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive growth.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop strategic alliances and mutual beneficial partnerships.
  • Represent the organization in industry events and conferences to enhance visibility and network with potential partners.
  • Leverage and grow existing partnerships to drive further access to potential donors, partners, etc. for OFN.

Capital Markets Partner Stewardship:

  • Effectively communicate with investors, organization members, and senior management on capital market performance and strategy.
  • Develop and implement investor communication strategies to enhance transparency and trust.
  • Address investor inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.

Capital and Finance Team Leadership:

  • Provide strategic leadership for OFN's Capital and Finance Team, within the Office of External Affairs, overseeing all staff responsible for capital markets partnership development and diversification, stewardship, market analysis and business intelligence, while ensuring a coordinated relationship strategy across all OFN funding partners (across capital markets and philanthropic partners):
  • Institutional capital partnerships
  • Impact investors (individual and institutional)
  • Strategic corporate partnerships
  • Partner closely with the SVP, Philanthropy and OFN Executive Leadership Team to align capital markets and philanthropic partner strategies with OFN and industry needs.

Product Development:

  • Collaborate with OFN’s investment services team to develop capital products tailored to OFN and members' needs.
  • Ensure new products comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Work closely with the product development team to drive innovation and competitiveness in the market.

Market Analysis and Opportunity Qualification:

  • Manage the process for analyzing trends and opportunities in relevant capital markets and sources of funding.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes to provide insights for short and longer-term partnership opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth research to identify opportunities and risks in the capital markets landscape.

Financial Performance Monitoring:

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of capital market activities, including revenue generation and key performance indicators.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on financial performance and fundraising outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to forecast financial trends and optimize fundraising strategies for improved performance.

Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with capital market activities to safeguard the organization's financial interests.
  • Develop risk management strategies and protocols to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Establish strong ethical standards and promote a risk awareness and mitigation culture.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

  • Must possess a strong passion for, understanding of, and commitment to OFN’s mission, vision, and values. In addition, be a fearless advocate, who is confident and resilient in OFN’s fight to drive capital into low-income communities.
  • 10+ years of direct professional experience working with financial institutions, regulated exchanges, standards-setting NGOs, and other institutions that support financial markets.
  • Excellent communication skills in public and private settings, both in presentation and written formats, with the ability to adapt the message to the needs of constituents.
  • Ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of impact investing and economic development policy issues highly beneficial.
  • Experience in relationship management required as well as CRM software (Salesforce).
  • Demonstrated writing experience with a focus on grant or proposal writing preferred.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills required to independently manage multiple tasks and prioritize work on diverse assignments with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced setting in an effective and efficient manner.
  • A collaborative team player with the interpersonal skills to work across all levels of the organization, humility, and a willingness to learn in all areas of our work. Be a strong team contributor, effective and comfortable in leading as well as supporting roles within teams.
  • Be a smart, quick seeker of knowledge who can think strategically, creatively, and tactically to analyze results and assist in implementing plans for increasing capital to communities we serve.
  • Regular business travel required (20% of time).
  • Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
