*Note: This position requires presence in our San Francisco or San Jose office location 4 days per week; Lambda's designated work from home day is currently Tuesday.

Business Technology at Lambda builds and scales the internal systems that power our business. We partner across the company with Finance, GTM, Engineering, and People to implement tools, automate workflows, and ensure data flows securely and accurately. Our scope spans enterprise applications, integrations, data platform and analytics, compliance automation, and all things IT.

People Technology is the pillar that owns the systems every Lambda employee touches. We are in the middle of moving Lambda from Rippling to Workday as our HRIS, and integrations are the connective tissue that determines whether that move works. Every benefits enrollment, payroll file, new-hire provisioning event, and GL posting depends on data moving correctly between Workday and the rest of our stack. We are hiring a Sr. Workday Integrations Architect to own the design, build, and operation of that integration landscape end to end, from implementation through go-live and into steady-state operations.

This is a hands-on architecture role for someone who is as comfortable building a Studio integration as they are defending a design decision in front of Security, Finance, and Audit. You will set the standards for how Workday talks to everything else at Lambda, and you will be the person People, Finance, IT, and Engineering call when data doesn't land where it should.

What You'll Do

Integration Architecture: Define and own the target-state integration architecture for Workday: patterns, standards, naming conventions, error handling, monitoring, and reusable components. Decide when to use EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, Web Services, RaaS, Workday Orchestrate, or Workato, and document why.

Implementation: Serve as the technical lead for integrations in our Workday implementation. Drive design sessions, build and test alongside our implementation partner, review partner deliverables, and sign off on readiness for cutover, parallel testing, and hypercare.

Rippling Migration & Data Conversion: Design and execute data extraction, transformation, and load from Rippling into Workday, including historical data, cutover sequencing, and validation. Own the plan to decommission Rippling-based integrations without gaps.

Inbound Integrations: Build and maintain inbound feeds into Workday (recruiting and offer data from Ashby, org and cost center data from NetSuite, equity and compensation data, and other upstream systems) with clear data ownership and validation.

Outbound Integrations: Build and maintain outbound feeds to benefits carriers, 401(k), tax filing, international and global payroll providers (PECI/PICOF or Global Payroll Connect), equity administration, and downstream consumers such as Okta, Lumos, and BigQuery.

Finance & Payroll Integrations: Own payroll results, accounting journal, and GL posting integrations to NetSuite. Partner with Payroll Operations and Accounting on reconciliation so Workday, payroll provider results, and the general ledger stay in agreement.

Identity & Provisioning: Partner with IT on the Workday-to-Okta lifecycle (joiner, mover, leaver), access provisioning through Lumos, and Workday security group and ISU/ISSG design for integration accounts.

Data Platform & Reporting: Design Workday data extracts and RaaS reports that feed BigQuery and the analytics platform, and define data contracts so People Analytics and Finance can trust the numbers.

Operations & Reliability: Establish monitoring, alerting, retry logic, runbooks, and on-call practices for integrations. Lead root-cause analysis when a file fails, a record is rejected, or a downstream system disagrees with Workday.

Compliance & Controls: Design integrations and integration security to satisfy SOX ITGC requirements: least-privilege ISUs, credential and certificate management, change management, segregation of duties, audit trails, and evidence capture. Support internal and external audit requests.

Releases & Roadmap: Stay current on Workday's semi-annual releases, assess impact on the integration footprint, run regression testing, and adopt new capabilities that reduce custom build and manual work.

Enablement & Mentorship: Write the documentation, integration inventory, and data dictionaries. Mentor analysts and partner consultants, and set the bar for code review, testing, and design quality.

You

Experience: 10+ years in HRIS, enterprise integration, or systems architecture, with at least 6+ years designing and building Workday integrations. You have taken at least one full Workday HCM implementation live as the integration lead or architect, including payroll and benefits integrations.

Workday Integration Depth: Expert with EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, Workday Web Services (SOAP and REST), RaaS and custom reports, calculated fields, XSLT/XPath, and integration security (ISUs, ISSGs, OAuth/API clients). Familiarity with Workday Orchestrate, Prism Analytics, or Extend is a plus.

Integration Platforms: Hands-on experience with an iPaaS or middleware platform (Workato strongly preferred; Boomi, MuleSoft, or similar also valued) and an understanding of when to use it versus native Workday tooling.

Payroll & Benefits Integrations: Have built or supported payroll, benefits carrier, 401(k), and tax filing integrations, and understand the data, timing, and reconciliation challenges involved. Experience with PECI/PICOF or Global Payroll Connect integrations for multi-country payroll is strongly preferred.

Data Fluency: Strong SQL and data modeling skills, comfort with file formats and transport (JSON, XML, CSV, SFTP, APIs, webhooks), and a rigorous approach to data validation and reconciliation.

Compliance & Controls: Have operated in a SOX or audit-facing environment and understand why change control, access reviews, and evidence matter for integrations that move sensitive employee and compensation data.

Operating Rigor: You design for failure, test thoroughly, document what you build, and never move an integration change into production without validation behind it.

Cross-functional Partnership: Comfortable translating between People, Finance, Payroll, IT, Security, and Engineering. You can explain a failed GL posting to a controller and an architecture tradeoff to a CTO.

Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and velocity at a pre-IPO company. Requirements change, headcount grows fast, new countries and vendors get added, and you re-plan without drama.

Attitude: An enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When data doesn't match, you can't leave it alone until you find the root cause.

Nice to Have

Workday Pro certifications in Integrations, Studio, Payroll, or HCM.

Experience migrating from Rippling or another all-in-one HR/payroll platform to Workday.

Experience with international payroll providers (for example ADP Celergo, CloudPay, Papaya Global, Deel) and employer-of-record arrangements.

Familiarity with the rest of our stack: NetSuite, Okta, Lumos, Workato, BigQuery.

IPO readiness experience, including integration control design and equity compensation data flows.

Experience using AI tooling to accelerate integration testing, documentation, mapping, or reconciliation.
