Make a meaningful difference with UnitingCare

At UnitingCare, we believe in the power of small moments to create lasting impact. Every day, our people support individuals, families and communities through some of life's most challenging circumstances, helping them build safety, resilience and hope for the future.

We're looking for a passionate and experienced leader to join our Family and Disability Services team as a Service Lead. Based in Townsville, this role oversees a specialist homelessness service supporting young women who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

This is an opportunity to lead a dedicated team, influence positive outcomes, and make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable young people within our community.

Your part in our UnitingCare Team

As Service Lead, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the service while providing leadership, guidance and practice supervision to a committed team of professionals. You will ensure high-quality, client-centred service delivery, foster a positive team culture, and contribute to achieving sustainable outcomes for the young women we support.

In this role you will:

  • Lead, mentor and support employees through effective supervision and professional guidance.
  • Coordinate the daily operations of the Supported Accommodation Youth service.
  • Ensure services are delivered in line with best practice, quality standards and organisational policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement and person-centred practice.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage service operations within budget parameters and contribute to planning and reporting activities.
  • Support positive outcomes for young women experiencing homelessness through effective program leadership.

Due to the inherent requirements of this program's service delivery, we require female representation in this role. As such, we are currently seeking a Female Service Lead. Being female is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

What makes a difference for us?

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Social Science or a related discipline; or lesser formal qualifications supported by extensive relevant leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and achieving service performance outcomes.
  • Experience providing staff supervision, coaching and professional development.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, quality standards, risk management and service delivery frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
  • Experience working within homelessness, youth, community, family or related support services.
  • Current Driver Licence.
  • Current Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one.

What makes a difference for you?
