Job Summary

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and coordinating outgoing shipments to ensure products are delivered accurately, safely, and on time. This role maintains shipping records, verifies order accuracy, prepares documentation, and works closely with warehouse personnel, carriers, and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process customer orders for shipment.
  • Verify products, quantities, and packaging against shipping documents.
  • Generate bills of lading (BOLs), packing slips, shipping labels, and other required documentation.
  • Schedule freight pickups and coordinate with transportation carriers.
  • Load and unload shipments as needed using material handling equipment.
  • Inspect shipments for accuracy and damage before dispatch.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and inventory transactions within the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP system.
  • Track shipments and provide status updates to customers and internal departments.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, or delivery issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory control activities as needed.
  • Keep shipping and staging areas organized and clean.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous warehouse, shipping, or logistics experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment (certification preferred).
