Shop Mechanic
Location: Woodburn, OR (On-Site / Shop-Based)

Wilson Construction Company is a premier utility contractor specializing in complex electrical transmission and distribution line construction across the United States. Operating out of our Woodburn facility, our shop mechanics perform a large variety of repair, maintenance, and upfitting projects to support our headquarters, regional, and field offices.
Role Overview
Based out of our Woodburn, OR office, the Shop Mechanic will be responsible for the comprehensive repair, maintenance, and upfitting of various company-owned utility equipment and trucks. You will be responsible for maintaining fleet reliability and safety while collaborating closely with field crews, regional management, and shop team members.
Key Responsibilities
Heavy Duty Repair & Diagnostics: Execute heavy mechanic repairs and diagnostics on hydraulic systems, Cummins/International/Cat engines, electrical systems, brake systems, drive train systems, and aerial equipment and boom trucks.
Light & Medium Duty Maintenance: Perform maintenance and troubleshooting for light and medium-duty trucks (Ford and/or Dodge experience a plus), focusing on diesel, gas, electrical, and brake systems.
Upfitting & Special Projects: Manage various upfitting and modification projects to prepare company utility vehicles and equipment for demanding field operations.
Safety & Compliance: Observe and maintain excellent safety standards across all tasks, maintaining a smoke and drug-free environment.
Team Collaboration & Continuous Learning: Bring a willingness to learn new skills, maintain personal tools, and work overtime and some weekends as required to support project timelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Level: Heavy Duty: Minimum 5 years of heavy mechanic experience in a related field. Medium/Light Duty: Minimum 2-3 years of light and medium-duty mechanic experience.
Education & Credentials: High school diploma or equivalent; CDL is a plus.
Technical & Software Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with basic fabrication skills.
Core Competencies: Self-motivated to learn about our company and equipment, ability to take ownership of the position, and a knack for thinking outside the box.
Location & Licensing Requirements: Must be able to work on-site in Woodburn, OR, possess a valid driver's license, own personal tools, and meet physical requirements (lifting up to 50 pounds, working in awkward positions, standing on varied surfaces, and climbing).
