Job Description
Join ACCIONA on a flagship WA infrastructure project, with first production set for 2028. Long term work, strong job security and real career runway as more works get awarded.
The Project
ACCIONA is leading the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant in Perth, a $2.8 billion project delivered in alliance with Water Corporation and Jacobs. Stage 1 will produce 150 million litres of drinking water a day for Western Australians. The plant integrates seawater desalination with on-site groundwater treatment, a first for a plant of this scale in WA. Construction is underway, with commissioning targeted for 2028.
The Role
We’re looking for a Commissioning Site Engineer (Process) to join the commissioning team, reporting to the Manager, Commissioning. You’ll support the commissioning, start-up, performance testing and initial operation of the plant’s desalination process systems, making sure equipment and plant operations meet design, safety and performance requirements. The role spans control room monitoring and field-based troubleshooting, working with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and operations teams to support a safe, efficient start-up and the successful handover of systems to operations.
It suits an engineer looking to build technical, operational and leadership capability on a large-scale water infrastructure project, with exposure to commissioning at a scale few projects in Australia can offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop working knowledge of assigned process systems and control logic
- Support safe execution of commissioning activities to specification and procedure
- Collaborate with operators and the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation teams
- Conduct system walkdowns, punch listing and completion verification
- Support loop checks, sequence testing and cause-and-effect matrix testing
- Assist with system testing, troubleshooting, performance validation and operational readiness activities
- Review and analyse process trends and data to inform commissioning decisions
- Apply HSSE systems including PTW, LOTO and risk assessments
- Support compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards
- Contribute to the handover of systems to operations
Required Skills and Competencies
Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, or Instrumentation & Control)
- Experience commissioning or operating water treatment or desalination plants
- Ability to read and interpret PFDs, P&IDs and control philosophies
- Working knowledge of SCADA or DCS control systems
- A genuine safety-first attitude
- Willingness to be fully site-based for the commissioning phase
