With multiple gigawatts currently under construction, we are enabling grid-safe data centers.

Travel Requirement: >80% site based

Position Type: Full-Time, hourly with OT and per diem

Location: Field-Based in United States (current site in Amarillo, TX)

Overview

The Site Readiness Technician I is an entry-level field role supporting receiving inspection and mechanical completion verification on ON.energy’s mission-critical, medium-voltage double-conversion UPS systems, utility-scale battery energy storage equipment including batteries, transformers, power conversion systems (PCS), and controls deployed at hyperscale data center and grid-tie sites. Working under the direction of senior technicians and the Site Readiness Manager, the Technician I performs basic receiving and installation checks, supports inspection documentation, and learns the fundamentals of safe, high-quality BESS field inspection.

This is a hands-on, high-travel field role. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, safety-minded, detail-oriented, and ready to grow into a more senior technician.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Site Support

Participate in a culture of safety for all team members, complying with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs and supporting the team’s goal of zero recordable injuries.

Ensure inspection tools and equipment are available, calibrated, and in working condition.

Provide general site support as directed by senior technicians and the Site Readiness Manager.

Receiving & Installation Verification

Support incoming inspections of BESS containers, battery racks/modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, telecom cabinets, and auxiliary systems, checking for shipping damage and verifying against packing lists and submittals.

Perform basic installation checks including cable terminations, labeling, grounding, conduit, and enclosure condition under the direction of senior technicians.

Assist senior technicians in executing inspection checklists and pre-energization walkdowns.

Documentation & Development

Capture photographic evidence and record inspection findings accurately in the project platform (Overmap, CxAlloy, or equivalent).

Document and report field issues to senior technicians and the Site Readiness Manager.

Follow instructions from senior technicians while building the skills to grow into a more senior technician role.

Required Qualifications

Entry-level knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, drawings, and technical documents.

Technical certificate, apprenticeship, or hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, or construction trades.

Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols.

Willing and able to travel up to ~80% to project sites nationwide.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to battery energy storage, solar, data center, or other utility-scale power or construction environments.

Safety certifications (OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, First Aid, CPR, AED).

Familiarity with basic inspection and diagnostic tools (digital multimeters, clamp meters, torque tools).

Soft Skills

Comfortable working in fast-paced construction environments.
