SOCIAL MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center

El Paso, TX (Part-Time and Remote)

Las Americas is seeking a Social Media and Communications Intern to help share our work, educate the public, and connect immigrant communities with the resources they need.

We are a nationally recognized organization that provides legal services, advocacy, and support to detained and non-detained individuals in El Paso, Texas, and southern New Mexico. Since 1987, we have represented over 50,000 individuals while advocating for systemic change.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Draft, schedule, and post content across Las Americas’ social media channels; update website content, including news, events, and resource pages; and ensure all content is accurate, respectful, and protects client confidentiality. The intern will report to the Executive Director. The internship offers the chance to build a portfolio of published nonprofit communications work and to learn about immigration advocacy.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Currently enrolled student or recent graduate in communications, journalism, marketing, public policy, or a related field.

Experience: Social media or communications experience (coursework, volunteer, or personal projects) and Spanish fluency are preferred but not required. Familiarity with immigration law and policy is a plus.

Skills and Values: Strong writing and editing skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently and meet deadlines; comfort with social media and basic website editing; a trauma-informed approach to client-related content; and commitment to immigrant rights.

COMMITMENT AND STIPEND

4 to 8 hours per week with a flexible schedule. The internship may begin as early as Fall 2026 and continue through Spring 2027. Stipend of $500 to $1,500 per semester, depending on availability and experience. Academic credit available where the school permits.

TO APPLY

Please submit a resume, a brief cover letter, and one or two writing or social media samples via Bamboo, along with your availability and preferred start date. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
