Description

Position Overview:

The Social Media Specialist is a creative, strategic, and highly organized digital content professional responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing social media content across multiple platforms and brands in support of senior leadership.

This role is responsible for translating sermons, teachings, leadership insights, ministry initiatives, and other meaningful moments into compelling digital content that strengthens brand visibility, expands audience reach, drives engagement, and communicates messages with clarity and impact.

The Social Media Specialist supports an established portfolio where each lane serves a distinct audience and carries unique messaging priorities. This position must understand those distinctions while maintaining consistency with established standards and the broader organizational vision.

This role requires more than the ability to publish content. The Social Media Specialist must demonstrate creative intuition, strong storytelling capabilities, technical proficiency, and a working understanding of digital audience behavior. The ideal candidate recognizes opportunities to transform existing content into meaningful digital experiences while proactively developing fresh concepts that increase visibility, engagement, and audience connection.

Working collaboratively with leadership, creative teams, production personnel, and other stakeholders, the Social Media Specialist manages content calendars, develops and publishes platform-specific content, monitors community engagement, evaluates performance, and recommends improvements that strengthen digital effectiveness.

Success in this position requires an individual who is equally comfortable thinking strategically and executing independently, managing multiple priorities, responding to emerging opportunities, and consistently delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.

  • Social Media Strategy & Audience Growth: Demonstrates the ability to develop and execute social media strategies that increase brand visibility, audience engagement, platform reach, and digital influence while aligning content with established organizational and brand objectives.

  • Digital Platform & Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates working knowledge of major social media platforms, content creation tools, publishing systems, video editing applications, and platform-specific practices that influence content performance and discoverability.
  • Content Planning & Project Execution: Effectively manages multiple content calendars, production timelines, publishing schedules, deliverables, and competing priorities while maintaining organization, accuracy, and consistent follow-through.
  • Analytics & Performance Optimization: Understands social media performance indicators, interprets audience and engagement data, identifies trends, and applies insights to improve content effectiveness, audience growth, and overall digital strategy.

Character Traits

  • Creative: Demonstrates imagination, curiosity, and originality while consistently identifying fresh approaches to communicating messages, presenting content, and engaging digital audiences.
  • Proactive: Anticipates content needs, recognizes opportunities, takes initiative, and moves assignments forward without requiring excessive direction or follow-up.
