AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running — supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer III to join our Infrastructure Supply Chain team, building large-scale distributed systems that power one of the world's most complex physical supply chains. Our systems manage hundreds of thousands of rack demands annually across AMER, EMEA, APAC, and GOVT regions — from demand forecasting and material planning to manufacturing execution, logistics, and data center deployment.

These are greenfield projects offering a rare opportunity to build systems from the ground up using modern technologies including reactive microservices, serverless computing, and distributed NoSQL data stores.

  • What You'll Do
  • Own and drive the technical vision for highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems that support the end-to-end infrastructure supply chain — spanning demand planning, fulfillment, manufacturing, logistics, and DC readiness
  • Solve complex, ambiguous architecture and business problems, delivering extensible solutions that operate at AWS scale while influencing long-term technical strategy
  • Write high-quality, modular, functional, and testable code with a focus on operational excellence, and raise the bar for engineering standards across the team
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with supply chain planners, hardware engineers, and operations managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving alignment across multiple teams
  • Formally mentor and develop mid-level and junior engineers on system design, coding best practices, architecture patterns, and troubleshooting — acting as a technical role model
  • Drive and own the full software development lifecycle — from design and code reviews through testing, deployment, and operations — with a focus on continuous improvement and operational rigor
  • Lead innovation in areas such as demand forecasting, supply optimization, and end-to-end observability through the Infrastructure Control Tower
  • Influence team roadmap and technical direction, contributing to org-level planning and prioritization
  • Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 4+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one modern software programming language (Java, Python, TypeScript, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of fundamental algorithms, data structures, and system design principles
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects end-to-end, including defining architecture, driving consensus, and delivering results across teams
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Proven track record of building distributed systems, microservices architectures, or event-driven platforms at scale
  • Deep expertise with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, Step Functions, ECS/EKS)
  • Experience with supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing domain systems
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar within a team or organization
  • Track record of influencing technical strategy beyond immediate team scope
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; Master's degree preferred
  • Why Join Us
  • Greenfield opportunity — Build from scratch with modern technologies and define the architecture from day one
  • Massive scale — Work on systems that manage 130+ hardware categories, global manufacturing partners (Jabil, Foxconn, Quanta), and data center deployments worldwide
  • High impact — Every rack you help deliver powers the AWS services that millions of customers depend on
  • Career growth — Endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and career-advancing resources to help you grow into a principal engineer or technical leader
  • About the Team
  • We value diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.

We value work-life harmony and strive for flexibility as part of our working culture. Our employee-led and company-sponsored affinity groups promote inclusion and empower our people to take pride in what makes us unique.
