Do you want to join a team that works with all of Amazon's devices (Alexa devices, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Kindle, etc.)? Do you want to build highly scalable, reliable cloud solutions that provide insight into the success of our devices? Do you want to work with world-class, state-of-the-art technologies on a fun, diverse, impactful team in Denver? Then you want to join the Device Analytics Services Team!

As a software development engineer on the team, you will own and deliver features that span the full software lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and operations, across both our device software and cloud services. You will work backwards from our customers to build the right solutions, and you'll partner with your team to design features that are reliable, maintainable, and built to last.

The ideal candidate is passionate about new opportunities and has a track record of delivering high-quality software to customers. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Building reliable, scalable, and high-performance products requires solid technical skills, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of computer science, and hands-on experience building distributed systems. This person takes pride in operational excellence, learns quickly, and raises the bar for the people around them through code reviews and mentorship. They will flourish in an environment where new opportunities and challenges arise frequently.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • - Design, develop, test, and operate device software and cloud services
  • - Deliver features across the full software lifecycle, working backwards from our customers
  • - Bring clarity to difficult problems and design maintainable solutions for new features
  • - Collaborate with stakeholders and end users to clarify requirements and build the right thing
  • - Own operational support and drive issues to permanent root-cause fixes
  • - Mentor teammates and raise the bar through code reviews and high standards
  • A day in the life
  • You will be part of an agile team using scrum methodology to deliver features used by hundreds of Amazon teams. This includes daily stand-ups, interacting with end users and product managers, influencing team direction, designing and writing code, reviewing others' work, and driving engineering excellence improvements.
  • About the team
  • We are a fun, quirky, high-performing team that delivers observability solutions for Amazon devices and applications (i.e., Amazon Echoes, Kindles, Fire TV, Ring, Fire Tablets, etc.). We specialize in both cross-platform device software and high-performing cloud services to offer comprehensive device-to-cloud observability solutions.

  • - Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred qualifications

  • - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
