  • THE OPPORTUNITY
  • We’re looking for a backend focused Sr. Software Engineer to join our Boulder-based team and help build the infrastructure powering our privacy first, data-driven platform. This role blends distributed systems engineering and cloud-native development in a high-impact environment. You’ll design scalable systems to process, transform, and query large volumes of anonymized healthcare data. You’ll also design systems to drive insights and power downstream applications.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs using Python.

Architect distributed systems using AWS services like EKS and EMR.

Build and execute complex queries on large datasets using Spark.

Construct and optimize workflow pipelines using Apache Airflow.

Deploy ML models in engineering pipelines.

Manage containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, and manage infrastructure-as-code.

Ensure system reliability, scalability, and observability in a production environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong backend development experience in Python.

Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and services (ideally AWS).

Understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.

Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.

Proficiency in writing SQL queries and working with large-scale datasets (Spark, Athena, Redshift, PostgreSQL, etc.).

A pragmatic problem-solving mindset with an eye for performance, security, and maintainability.

NICE-TO-HAVES

Team-lead or management experience.

Familiarity with real-time data processing or streaming architectures.

Experience with building data lakes, Snowflake, DataBricks.

Comfort with infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, CDK).

Background in data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.

Exposure to Healthcare, AdTech, or privacy-sensitive data systems.
