Build the mission-critical backend systems that ensure advertisers worldwide are taxed correctly, invoiced compliantly, and rewarded appropriately — designing tax calculation services, government e-invoicing integrations, and promotion engines that power billing across Amazon's global advertising business. Your code will directly impact how we calculate and apply advertising taxes across jurisdictions and orchestrate incentive programs that drive advertiser growth.

The TAP (Tax & Promotions) team within Amazon Ads owns the services that handle tax compliance, regulatory invoicing, and promotion consumption for Sponsored Ads, DSP, and vendor billing across worldwide marketplaces. You'll work on challenging backend problems in a high-impact domain — building scalable, maintainable distributed systems that process billing at global scale. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers to deliver solutions that span tax calculation, e-invoicing integrations, and sophisticated credit and incentive programs, while growing your expertise in algorithms, system design, and distributed systems.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • - Design and develop scalable backend services for advertising tax calculation, regulatory compliance, and invoicing across global jurisdictions
  • - Build and maintain promotion engines that orchestrate advertiser credits and incentive programs at scale
  • - Develop government e-invoicing integrations that ensure compliance across worldwide marketplaces
  • - Deliver end-to-end features across the billing stack — from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operations
  • - Collaborate with experienced engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term architectural goals
  • - Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in design and code reviews
  • - Drive operational excellence through monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement of mission-critical billing services

  • - 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • - 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

Preferred qualifications

  • - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
