Sonographer (PRN)

Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Perform ultrasonic diagnostic and vascular procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• •Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician for patients.
• •Schedule patients.
• •Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
• •Position patient, select appropriate transducer, depending upon depth of field, structure to be identified, etc.
• •Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment. Move scanner over specified body area, adjust equipment to focus.
• •Assist Physician in such procedures as needle biopsies, etc. Scan patient, mark patients’ body, determine angle for puncture, and assist as necessary maintaining sterile technique.
• •Provide Radiologist with good history for diagnosis.
• •Enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS.
• •Comply with established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
• •Maintain department records (patient/other), reports, and files as required.
• •Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
• •Keep work area clean, alert department director to equipment malfunctions, etc.
• •Attend in services and other meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of all department meetings is required.
• •Technologists will take call.
• •Can send images to both cloud systems.
• •Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
• •Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• •Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• •High school diploma or equivalent.
• •Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology Program.
• •ARDMS certified or registry eligible.
• •Current AHA or Red Cross BLS required.
• •Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• •Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
• •Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
• •Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
• •Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
• •Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
• •Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
• •Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
