Job Description Summary
- About This Role
- Wind turbines rely on thousands of precisely engineered bolted connections — and the integrity of every one of them depends on getting torque right. As Special Process Leader – Torque Control, you will own the technical standards, qualification methods, and process controls that keep those connections safe, compliant, and consistent across GE Vernova's wind manufacturing network.
- This is a role where your expertise directly protects the structural and safety integrity of wind energy infrastructure at scale. You will define how torque processes are designed, validated, governed, and improved — working across plants, functions, and suppliers to raise the bar on quality and reliability.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical owner for torque control processes across wind manufacturing, setting standards for process definition, validation, and governance.
- Develop and qualify torque-related special processes and process windows, including specifications, control methods, and verification requirements for critical structural and safety-related bolted joints.
- Lead failure investigations and corrective actions related to torque processes, materials, and assembly — applying root cause analysis and driving sustainable resolution.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and Suppliers on changes affecting fasteners, joints, materials, tools, and torque processes, including support for new product introduction (NPI), pilot builds, and plant launches.
- Drive standardization of torque tools, methods, and verification practices across sites, and build organizational capability through technical training and process discipline.
What You'll Bring
You are an experienced manufacturing or process engineering professional with deep expertise in torque control and bolted joint assembly — someone who combines technical precision with the ability to influence standards across complex, multi-site environments.
Required
- Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline.
- Significant experience in manufacturing engineering, special process engineering, or quality/industrial operations.
- Strong experience with torque control, bolted joint assembly, fastening systems, or related critical process control.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical specifications, validation requirements, and process controls.
- Proven track record leading failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Preferred
- Working knowledge of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), control plans, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), capability studies, and process audits.
- Experience influencing technical standards across multiple plants or regions.
- Background in wind manufacturing or heavy industrial assembly environments.
