Description

CM&B is seeking a motivated Operations Intern (Co-op) to join our Operations team and gain hands-on experience in construction project management. This internship provides exposure to the operational processes that support successful project delivery, from project startup and planning through closeout.

Working alongside experienced operations and project management professionals, you'll learn how construction projects are coordinated, documented, and executed. You'll gain practical experience supporting project teams, working with subcontractors and vendors, managing project documentation, and learning the systems and processes that keep projects running efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related fields who are interested in exploring careers in project management and construction operations.

What You'll Learn

As an Operations Intern, you will:

  • Develop an understanding of construction project management and operational processes.
  • Gain exposure to project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and project execution.
  • Learn how project teams collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and engineers.
  • Assist with project startup, documentation management, and closeout activities.
  • Gain experience using industry software, including Procore, to manage project information.
  • Understand how documentation, compliance, and communication contribute to successful project delivery.
  • Observe how operational and safety considerations are integrated into construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Operations team with daily project coordination and administrative activities.
  • Assist in collecting, organizing, and maintaining project information and documentation.
  • Participate in Operations and Safety Committee meetings to gain exposure to project and safety processes.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and vendors to gather information and support project needs.
  • Learn to review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Assist project teams in defining subcontractor and supplier scopes of work.
  • Support project startup and project closeout processes.
  • Help track, distribute, and maintain project documentation and weekly project updates.
  • Utilize Procore and other project management tools to organize and manage project information.
  • Assist with tracking subcontractor contracts, insurance certificates, and compliance documentation.
  • Help monitor outstanding documentation to ensure projects remain compliant and on schedule.
  • Review project updates and drawing revisions issued by architects and engineers and communicate changes to project teams.
  • Provide general office and administrative support as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in construction operations, project management, and the building industry.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
