Position Summary
The Senior Accountant, Operations is responsible for maintaining the general ledger and ensuring the accuracy of inventory reporting and other financial reporting activities across multiple locations. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process and addresses tight deadlines, while supporting the organization's overall financial integrity and reporting requirements. This individual will be a strategic thinker with a proven ability to get into the details and see tasks to completion.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
Prepare journal entries and manage month-end close activities for operational accounting functions.
Prepare and maintain account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Perform income statement flux analyses by comparing actual results against budget and prior year to identify trends and ensure proper classification and coding in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting for executive leadership
Inventory Accounting & Reporting
Review and reconcile Raw, Work in Process, and Finished Goods Inventory for multiple locations across the company
Calculation of Slow Moving and Obsolete Inventory Reserves
Maintain reporting for Intercompany In-Transit Inventory
Review and reconcile Open Receivers (Goods Received Not Invoiced)
Analyze Material Margin Variances at a local level for discrepancies and abnormalities
Compliance & Controls
Support and maintain SOX compliance through the execution of required reviews and internal control procedures.
Assist with audits and provide requested documentation as needed.
Evaluate processes and procedures to recommend, develop, and implement initiatives that will improve accuracy and increase efficiency
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience
2 to 4 years of accounting experience
Experience working with general ledger accounting, inventory/operational accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Good understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and positive attitude
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
Ability to work a hybrid schedule from the Dallas office 4 days a week
