The Project Finance position is responsible for the financial management, forecasting, reporting, and analysis of assigned projects throughout the project lifecycle. The role partners closely with Project Managers, Project Controls, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Commercial, and Operations teams to provide financial insight, support project performance, monitor project risks and opportunities, and ensure accurate forecasting of revenue, costs, margin, cash flow, and working capital. The position also supports project billing activities to ensure alignment between project execution, contract requirements, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Project Financial Management

  • Support projects throughout the project lifecycle, including project setup, budget review, forecast maintenance, cost tracking, cash flow monitoring, and project closeout.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Project Controls to monitor project performance and provide financial analysis to support project execution.
  • Prepare and maintain project forecasts, including revenue, cost, gross margin, cost-to-complete, receipts, disbursements, and working capital metrics.
  • Analyze forecast changes, project performance trends, and actual results against budget and prior forecasts.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities and support the development of mitigation plans.

Financial Analysis and Business Support

  • Analyze monthly project financial results and provide commentary on revenue, cost, profitability, cash flow, receivables, contract assets and liabilities, and key project drivers.
  • Support financial reviews and project performance discussions with project and business leadership teams.
  • Review project commitments, cost trends, estimate revisions, and forecast assumptions.
  • Support Technical Service Agreement, vendor-based, reimbursable, and commission-based projects through financial review and performance analysis.
  • Assist in evaluating project-related commercial and financial matters as projects progress through execution.

Billing and Working Capital Support

  • Review key contract terms affecting project financial management, including billing provisions, payment terms, reimbursable cost clauses, customer acceptance requirements, and change orders.
  • Partner with the Billing team to support timely and accurate customer invoicing.
  • Monitor unbilled revenue, advance billings, receivables, collections, contract assets, and contract liabilities.
  • Support resolution of billing issues affecting project forecasts, cash flow, profitability, or working capital performance.

Monthly Close and Reporting

  • Support monthly close activities by ensuring project costs, accruals, billings, intercompany transactions, foreign exchange adjustments, and related project activity are accurately recorded.
  • Prepare and support project-related journal entries and financial adjustments.
  • Reconcile project financial reports and supporting records.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages, variance analyses, forecast updates, and management reporting.
  • Coordinate resolution of project-related accounting and financial issues with key stakeholders.

Process Improvement and Controls

  • Support initiatives to improve forecasting accuracy, project controls, billing effectiveness, reporting quality, and financial visibility.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial management requirements.
  • Ensure supporting project documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in project finance, project accounting, financial analysis, project controls, cost management, or a related finance function.
  • Experience supporting project-based businesses, preferably within engineering, technology, energy, petrochemical, industrial services, construction, or EPC environments.
  • Strong understanding of project forecasting, cost-to-complete analysis, gross margin analysis, revenue recognition concepts, working capital management, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and business partnering capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, professional judgment, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems such as JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, or similar platforms.
