The Senior Buyer coordinates, manages, and negotiates supplier and stakeholder relationships, projects, contracts, and purchasing activities related to the procurement of CarMax branded materials in support of the Store Marketing Team and CarMax Marketing Operations.
What You Will Do
Procurement Project Management and Implementation
Manage and implement procurement projects:
Proactively work with the Store Marketing team and other business partners to identify needs and research new products and suppliers to support new or ongoing business requirements and/or projects
Support on-time delivery and installation of all marketing materials for grand openings and remodels
Coordinate and lead cross-functional project teams, with an eye toward continuous improvement
Implement new programs, products, or services for a particular store location and campaigns on a nationwide/company-wide basis
Supplier Management and Coordination
Manage supplier relationships across the print and promotions category with CarMax's strategic partners:
Monitor supplier performance for adherence to contracts and service level agreements
Independently resolve supplier performance issues
Create and review supplier scorecards
Conduct regularly scheduled meetings and reviews with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure open communication and collaboration
Analyze purchases with suppliers and regularly identify savings opportunities and efficiencies
Review industry/commodity data to stay informed of industry changes and trends
Lead cross-functional RFI and RFP sourcing events
Identify and develop diverse sources to support CarMax in branded material (primarily print) production engagements
Customer Relationship Management
Coordinate and assist in managing the business relationship with the Store Marketing team:
Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in weekly standups and project planning meetings
Ensure customer and stakeholder expectations and requirements are met
Update project trackers on a weekly basis to ensure accurate, timely visibility into project status for stakeholders, including SS&P management
Supplier Contract Coordination and Negotiation
Coordinate, monitor, and assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements to ensure they are amended or executed in support of the ongoing partnership:
Negotiate standard procurement terms and conditions
Make recommendations and assist in negotiating contract terms such as pricing, length of agreement, inventory stocking, delivery, and service levels
Monitor and regularly review existing contracts
Marketing Sourcing Team Coverage and Support
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
Previous procurement/buying and supplier management experience required (5+ years)
Experience in the marketing and/or printing industry (5+ years)
Four-year degree preferred, but not required
Project management experience required (3+ years)
Proven success in building relationships
CarMax-specific experience preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong internal and external customer service and organization skills
Strong teamwork behaviors in line with CarMax values
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and stay results-focused
Ability to establish working relationships with associates at all levels of the company
Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA and Associates will work onsite 4 days per week.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.

The annual salary for this position is:
$77,800.00 - $116,700.00 May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Benefits:
Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.
Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:
- To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
- For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.
Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
