Sr. Central Lines Technician

Description

• •Locates and repairs leaks in the water distribution and wastewater collection system.
• •Installs new water and sewer mains and services.
• •Operates remote control and manual camera units to identify line blockages and breaks.
• •Repairs and replace fire hydrants.
• •Locates and excavates underground utilities; makes street, sidewalk and lawn repairs.
• •Makes sewer and water main line repairs.
• •Repairs manholes.
• •Change out meters.
• •Replace meter boxes and lids.
• •Read and record water usage data along an assigned route through the use of radio read device or manually.
• •Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
• •Performs related duties.

Requirements

• •Knowledge of department safety policies and procedures.
• •Knowledge of water and wastewater system maintenance and repair principles.
• •Knowledge of utility meter operations and maintenance principles.
• •Knowledge of area streets and roads.
• •Knowledge of vehicle maintenance principles.
• •Skill in the use of handheld computers and job-related software.
• •Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• •Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
• •Skill in problem solving.
• •Skill in interpersonal relations.
• •Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• •Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• •Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• •Possession of or ability to readily obtain a Georgia state-certified license for Water Distribution Systems Operators.
• •Possession of or ability to readily obtain a Georgia state-certified license for Wastewater Collection Systems Operators.
