Position Overview

We are seeking a Staff Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing cloud-native database solutions running on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud. The solutions include relational and No-SQL products.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and implement cloud-based database architectures that meet application requirements and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with application teams to architect scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud database solutions that align with enterprise standards.
  • Partner with the Cloud Engineering and Site Reliability Engineers to integrate database CI/CD pipelines into their application deployments. Including Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of designing and building automation for database provisioning and repetitive tasks using infrastructure as code tools, including AWS’s CloudFormation and Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and high availability strategies. Provide DR testing support.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, regulatory and privacy standards. Capability with preparing evidence to support internal and external auditors.
  • Proficient at preparing deployment and operational procedure manuals.

Provide second-level support for troubleshooting production incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement native cloud database solutions using Terraform and AWS’s CloudFormation.
  • Automate the monitoring and alerting of database performance and availability.
  • Provide support for the operational support team on routine database maintenance, including backups, patching, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Master the latest DB features and apply them to provide a measurable value to application teams.
  • Perform analysis and end-to-end execution from roadmap to implementation of database consolidations, migrations, and conversions.
  • Work to reduce complexity and cost in database environments through analysis, simplification, and automation using Ansible, Python, Terraform or other tools.
  • Evaluate new product releases and make recommendations on implementation of newest versions.
  • Assist application and DBA teams with databases migration from an on-prem system to the Cloud.
  • Maintain documentation of standard operating policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience managing relational and NoSQL databases in a cloud environment (AWS and GCP).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Proficiency with GitHub (version control, pull requests, and code reviews).
  • Familiarity with Jenkins pipelines, Ansible automation, and ServiceNow.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, VPCs, subnets, and security groups as they relate to database deployments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • The ability to learn fast on the job by partnering with senior resources.
  • A passion for engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Use AI tools as a productivity accelerator to speed up development, automation, analysis, refactoring, troubleshooting, and documentation—while retaining full ownership of technical decisions and outcomes.
  • Critically evaluate and validate AI-generated output using domain expertise, system knowledge, and production feedback; recognize when suggestions are incorrect, incomplete, or unsafe and adjust accordingly.
  • Apply AI responsibly within enterprise security, governance, and compliance boundaries, including data privacy, access controls, logging, auditability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leverage AI to improve operational effectiveness (e.g., analyzing logs, metrics, incidents, and configuration drift) to accelerate root cause analysis, remediation, and prevention.
  • Clearly explain what AI contributed, what was changed, and why—demonstrating understanding rather than reliance; AI is a tool to amplify expertise, not replace it.
  • Experience operationalizing AI-enabled services and models using MLOps-aligned practices, including versioning, CI/CD integration, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with common model deployment patterns (batch processing, real-time APIs, and event-driven architectures) on cloud platforms.
  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise systems using REST APIs, messaging systems, or event-based architectures, with a focus on reliability and operability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on with designing and building infrastructure deployments using Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Strong documentation skills in creating and maintaining operational policies and procedures.
  • A desire for continuous learning
