The Bespoke Solutions group in AWS Region Services is looking for a Interdisciplinary Systems Engineer with technical leadership experience leading hardware, software, and FGPA developers through the systems engineering lifecycle from conception to delivery.

We develop AWS owned hardware solutions in order to scale globally, minimize cost, and maximize value for our customers. We are a growing team of hardware, software and FPGA engineers with a dedicated product development lab in Arlington, VA.

You will perform system/product definition, requirements decomposition, technical risk assessments, and end to end testing for scalable high assurance embedded systems in the AWS technology ecosystem.

As a member of the Bespoke Solutions Team in Region Services, you will be joining a talented full-stack development team (hardware and software) that is laser-focused on developing network security products that enable our Amazon Dedicated Cloud to operate efficiently at scale.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • - Evaluate, develop, and deliver solutions for the lifecycle of complex interdisciplinary system design problems for which the technical strategy is frequently not defined
  • - Derive requirements for system efficiency, operational excellence, and user experience.
  • - Lead design and system engineers to perform verification and validation of certification requirements.
  • - Generate technical artifacts that ensure design completeness and improve system traceability.
  • - Lead design meetings to plan development and review peer designs.
  • - Test/verify new technologies to improve the customer experience.
  • - Mentor and educate other engineers on systems goals and constraints in relation to physical, interfaces, compliance, data management, and risk management.
  • A day in the life
  • You will be a technical leader on a cross-functional team of hardware and software developers, focusing on system-level integration and verification. You will help set and maintain the standard for system testing and verification, understanding and planning for the impact of team decisions on overall system architecture in team meetings, design reviews, and through written documents. You will lead architectural discussions, and strategic planning meetings.

You will use and develop CI/CD pipelines to automatically run your own unit tests, and hardware in the loop tests. You help deploy embedded software onto hardware targets and help debug issues that come along in RTL, hardware, or software. You will develop and document software sub-systems and components in Rust, you will coordinate with the team daily to make design decisions, resolve blockers, and review code.

You will guide system architecture development and trade studies for encryption devices, key management systems, FPGAs, and ASICs. You will generate artifacts for design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) as part of the government certification processes. You will work with various teams to establish requirements, develop verification methods, and ensure system specifications are met. You will use tools such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML) to create and maintain system documentation, including test procedures, requirements documentation, and verification matrices.

You will demonstrate a high standard, help prioritize development activities and educate others about systems engineering best practices and tools.
