Job Description:

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP Systems Engineer with 10+ years of hands-on SAP Basis experience to provide technical leadership and operational support for a complex enterprise SAP landscape. The role will be responsible for the availability, performance, stability, security, and technical lifecycle management of the SAP technology platform.

The position requires a strong technical professional who can independently manage day-to-day SAP Basis operations while also leading SAP upgrades, patching, performance optimization, security remediation, system refreshes, disaster recovery activities, and cloud initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with SAP Functional, Security, Infrastructure, Network, and external SAP managed service teams to resolve complex technical issues and deliver SAP projects. As an additional responsibility, this position will administer and coordinate the SAP Change Advisory Board (CAB) process, supporting SAP change reviews, approvals, documentation, and change management compliance.

This is a hybrid position, requiring a combination of on-site and remote work. The candidate should be comfortable working in a collaborative enterprise environment, providing production support, participating in maintenance activities, coordinating SAP changes, and serving as a senior technical escalation point for critical SAP issues.

You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:

SAP Basis Administration

  • Perform senior-level SAP Basis administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
  • Plan and execute SAP upgrades, support packs, kernel upgrades, enhancement packages, and security patching.
  • Analyze SAP EarlyWatch Alert (EWA) reports and proactively address performance, stability, capacity, and security recommendations.
  • Monitor and respond to SAP Hot News, Security Notes, and SAP Security Patch Day recommendations.
  • Perform SAP installations, system copies, client copies, system refreshes, and transport management across DEV/QA/PROD.
  • Administer SAP HANA databases, including monitoring, backup/recovery, memory management, performance tuning, and upgrades.
  • Administer and support OpenText SAP Archiving, including archive objects, archive sessions, repository configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and integration with SAP.
  • Support SAP BTP, including subaccounts, entitlements, connectivity, Cloud Connector, and integration services.
  • Configure and maintain SAP Fiori Launchpad, catalogs, and technical components across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Support SLT replication, SAP PO/PI interfaces, adapters, and message monitoring.
  • Support SAP Data Services, BOBJ, MII, and SCM technical operations.
  • Collaborate with SAP Functional, Security, Infrastructure, Network, Database, and Cloud teams.
  • Coordinate with external SAP managed service providers and vendors to resolve technical issues and deliver SAP services.
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, and system support documentation.
  • Provide on-call and escalation support for critical production incidents.

SAP Change Advisory Board (CAB) Administration – Additional Responsibility

  • Administer and coordinate the SAP Change Advisory Board (CAB) process, including reviewing SAP change requests for completeness, risk/impact, testing, validation, rollback plans, and required approvals.
  • Coordinate SAP CAB meetings and approvals with relevant SAP teams and stakeholders.
  • Track SAP changes through approval, implementation, validation, and closure. Maintain CAB documentation and audit evidence and ensure adherence to established SAP change management procedures.

Important Details:

  • This role is a full-time, hybrid role based out of our corporate office in Oak Brook, IL.
  • The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $100,800 – 151,200 USD annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.

You’ll fit right in if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on SAP Basis administration experience in enterprise hybrid cloud and on-premise SAP landscapes, including SAP S/4HANA upgrades and conversions.
  • Experience leading complex SAP technical projects and supporting production environments, including coordination with SAP RISE managed service teams and vendors.
  • Experience with SAP platforms, including SAP ECC, S/4HANA, CFIN, SCM, MII, SLT, SAP PO/PI, Fiori/Fiori Launchpad, SAP Data Services (BODS), BusinessObjects (BOBJ), SAP BTP, Fiori Cloud, Cloud Connector, Ariba Integration, SAP Cloud ALM, and SAP Solution Manager.
  • Experience administering OpenText SAP Archiving, Document Management, and Content Server/Archive Server, including SAP integration.
  • Experience administering an SAP Change Advisory Board (CAB) process and coordinating SAP changes across teams and stakeholders, with a strong understanding of ITIL-aligned incidents, problems, and change management, including risk/impact assessment
