Job Description:

The Senior Manager Revenue Management supports the Revenue Management Team by Leading Leaders and Analysts responsible for maximizing revenue opportunities across Southwest’s network. They’ll develop and execute revenue management strategies that align People, assets, and network decisions to changing business conditions and support long‑term Company objectives. They’ll partner with Commercial Leadership and cross‑functional Teams to provide strategic insights, guide decision‑making, and drive initiatives that support revenue growth and operational performance. The Senior Manager Revenue Management leverages strong Leadership, analytical, and change management skills to develop Team capabilities, foster innovation, and deliver revenue strategies that strengthen Southwest’s competitive position and business results.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought leader and serve as a trusted advisor to Commercial Executives
  • Advise and guide revenue, variance, and trending analysis for key performance drivers and metrics
  • Advise and guide the development of new forecasting models and improve accuracy and insights of current models
  • Establish deliverable timelines ensuring plans, analysis, projects, and/or presentations are delivered on time
  • Oversee and contribute to comprehensive revenue, analytical, and decision support at the Team, Department, and/or Executive level as well as leads companywide system Revenue Management strategy
  • Provides thorough root cause analysis for RM and Commercial Leadership and translates broad direction into specific actions
  • Supports cross departmental objectives by collaborating with Yield Leadership colleagues to develop and implement strategic initiatives
  • Build strong working relationship with Southwest Airlines internal partners with the goal of maximizing revenue through all levers
  • Generates new ideas to improve revenue or enhance existing revenue streams
  • Provides Legendary Southwest Airlines internal customer service
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, data analytics, financial forecasting methods, data science model design, and their applications
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services including marketing strategy and tactics, and product demonstration
  • Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
  • Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization’s strategic plan
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and/or in speaking with others
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)

Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
  • Achieving results by maximizing teams through Leadership, feedback, coaching, and developing talent for long-term success
  • Developing teams, their strategic vision, future goals, and objectives
  • Business acumen to optimize the operations of the Team and achieve financial targets
  • Driving complex cross-functional initiatives and aligning stakeholders at all levels
  • Developing strategies, plans, and decisions, and communicating them to executive leadership
  • Identifying tasks and responsibilities that should be delegated; resists the temptation to “do it yourself,” enabling others to take action, make decision, and learn from their experiences
  • Broad knowledge in Revenue Management, Pricing, or similar Analytical field
  • One or more of: SQL, Tableau, Alteryx
  • Responsible for large scale pricing and revenue management strategies and implementation to maximize revenue
  • Preferred: Airline pricing or Revenue Management experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with fare data analysis, pricing strategy, and competitive carrier monitoring.
  • Preferred: Proficiency with SQL, Tableau, and/or Alteryx.
  • Preferred: Experience using AirVision Fare Manager (AVFM), Sabre, or Amadeus.
  • Preferred: Proven ability to communicate analytical insights to senior and executive leaders.

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $160,550 per year to $178,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
