Your new role

This position is responsible for senior-level systems operation for live content production, with primary focus on the management of inbound and outbound signals, ingest coordination and monitoring, internal signal distribution, and communications configuration for Studio and PCR positions. In addition to performing operational duties with a high degree of autonomy, this role acts as a technical and situational reference for the team and provides operational guidance in the absence of the area Supervisor, without formal people-management responsibility.

Your role accountabilities:

  • Senior-level reception, validation, monitoring, and routing of video and audio signals across satellite, fiber, and IP-based transmission paths, including complex or high-priority feeds;
  • Internal signal distribution and operational coordination for live productions, acting as a technical and situational reference for the team and guiding priorities when the Supervisor is unavailable;
  • Preparation and execution of audio and video recording workflows, advanced troubleshooting, incident response, operational reporting, and knowledge sharing with other operators.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems operation, broadcast operations, or a comparable Live Operations position;
  • Advanced Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of video and audio signal flow, transmission systems, ingest and recording workflows, internal communications, monitoring, and broadcast infrastructure;
  • Systems and Equipment Proficiency: Advanced operational knowledge of routers, signal monitoring tools, recording systems, intercom and IFB platforms, transmission equipment, and related Studio/PCR systems;
  • Signal Management: Ability to independently receive, validate, monitor, troubleshoot, and route complex inbound and outbound signals across satellite, fiber, and IP-based environments;
  • Advanced Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Ability to diagnose technical issues, coordinate corrective actions, document incidents, and minimize disruption to live broadcasts;
  • Technical and Situational Leadership: Ability to guide colleagues, support operational prioritization, and serve as the team’s technical reference when the Supervisor is unavailable, without formal people-management authority.

Other nice to have:

  • Communication Skills: Clearly communicating technical information, operational priorities, incident status, and instructions to operators, supervisors, engineering teams, and production stakeholders;
  • Mentoring and Knowledge Sharing: Supporting the development of less-experienced operators through practical guidance, coaching, and the sharing of operational best practices;
  • Decision Making: Making timely and well-informed operational decisions within the role’s authority, particularly during live events and in the Supervisor’s absence;
  • Adaptability: Adjusting effectively to new technologies, workflows, production requirements, and changing operational priorities;
  • Attention to Detail: Maintaining accuracy in signal routing, monitoring, recording, communications configuration, and technical documentation;
  • Problem Solving: Analyzing complex technical situations, coordinating the appropriate resources, and implementing effective solutions under time pressure;
  • Team Collaboration and Accountability: Promoting coordinated teamwork, taking ownership of operational outcomes, and helping maintain continuity across shifts and productions;
  • Stress and Time Management: Managing multiple priorities and unexpected situations while remaining focused during high-pressure live operations.

How We Get Things Done…

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
