Job Description:

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Applications Solutions Developer to join our Institutional Division Technology Team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Senior Applications Solutions Developer within Pacific Life's Institutional Division, you will serve as the technical bridge between business strategy, enterprise architecture, and software delivery. Working closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, SMEs, and engineering teams, you will transform complex business capabilities into scalable, implementable software solutions.

You will leverage modern AI-assisted engineering tools—including GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and other large language models—to accelerate solution discovery, technical design, code development, testing, and documentation. Your work will ensure every solution aligns with division standards, enterprise architecture, security requirements, and governance while delivering measurable business outcomes.

This role combines solution architecture, software engineering, systems thinking, and business domain expertise to deliver high-quality applications across the Institutional Division’s application portfolio.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Own solution discovery from business capability through technical implementation.
  • Partner with Product, Solution Architects, SMEs, QA, and engineering teams to define scalable, implementable solution paths.
  • Produce implementation-ready technical designs, user stories, data mappings, API specifications, and solution documentation.
  • Validate solution approaches against enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and governance standards.
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using modern software engineering practices.
  • Contribute production-quality code while improving application reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Leverage AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and similar technologies to accelerate analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects to evaluate technical tradeoffs and establish scalable solution patterns.
  • Mentor developers through design discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
  • Drive simplification, automation, reuse, and reduction of technical debt across the application portfolio.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years designing, developing, and delivering enterprise software solutions.
  • Experience with Python, React, APIs, SQL, integration technologies, or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Experience translating business capabilities into scalable technical solutions.
  • Experience partnering with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools to improve engineering productivity.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture, cloud-native development, integration patterns, and the software delivery lifecycle.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience within insurance or financial services.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture principles and solution governance.
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified Developer)
  • Experience leading technical solution design across multiple teams.
  • Passion for applying AI to modern software engineering practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
