Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer

Summary:

Designs, implements and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products. Responsible for planning, implementing and managing compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements for worldwide distribution. Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products. Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards (i.e. GLP, GMP, ISO, Six Sigma).

Job Summary**

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality of materials, components, and services received from suppliers, driving continuous improvement in supplier performance, and supporting the development and implementation of supplier quality strategies for VIAVI SOLUTIONS (THAILAND) CO., LTD.

Job Responsibilities**

• * Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality programs and processes to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• * Conduct supplier qualification audits, assessments, and ongoing performance monitoring to evaluate supplier capabilities and ensure adherence to specifications.
• * Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for supplier quality issues, driving effective resolution and preventing recurrence.
• * Collaborate with Sourcing, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to define clear quality requirements for new product introductions and component changes.
• * Monitor and report on key supplier quality metrics, identifying trends and recommending proactive solutions.
• * Manage supplier deviations, non-conformances, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) processes.
• * Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers, including process optimization, defect reduction, and cost-saving opportunities.
• * Participate in the selection and evaluation of new suppliers, ensuring they meet VIAVI's quality standards.
• * Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers on quality-related matters.
• * Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant quality management system standards.

Job Qualifications**

• * Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent).
• * Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supplier quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in electronics or telecommunications.
• * Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, PPAP).
• * Proven experience conducting supplier audits and assessments.
• * Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead root cause analysis, attention to details

• * Skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint.
• * Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• * Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• * Ability to travel to supplier sites as required.
• * Experience with optical components or telecommunications equipment manufacturing is a plus.
• * Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification is a plus.
