What this role is all about

At Sonesta, strong financial operations help keep our hotels running smoothly while supporting exceptional guest and employee experiences. As a Staff Accountant, you’ll support daily accounting operations and financial reporting while helping ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across the property.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys balancing accounting support, financial analysis, reporting, and operational collaboration. You’ll work closely with Finance leadership and hotel departments to support reconciliations, reporting, audits, and day-to-day accounting activities that help drive hotel success.

What you’ll be doing

Support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, payroll support, and cash management activities.

Prepare and maintain financial reports, operational analysis, account reconciliations, and supporting accounting documentation accurately and efficiently.

Assist with month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, operational reporting, and financial reporting deadlines.

Support budgeting, forecasting, labor analysis, invoice processing, and operational finance initiatives across hotel departments.

Review financial transactions, invoices, expense reports, and operational records for accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Partner closely with Finance leadership, Human Resources, Operations, Front Office, and other hotel departments to support business operations and financial accuracy.

Maintain accurate accounting records, operational files, audit documentation, and financial reporting systems.

Assist with audits, inventory reviews, purchasing controls, vendor management, and operational finance projects as needed.

Maintain strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems, PMS platforms, procurement systems, Excel, and financial reporting tools.

Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, accounting efficiency, and operational finance processes across the property.

Help foster a collaborative, analytical, and business-focused culture aligned with Sonesta’s People People philosophy.

Any other duties as assigned.

What great looks like

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, Business, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred.

1+ years of accounting, hospitality finance, hotel accounting, or financial reporting experience preferred.

Previous Staff Accountant, Accounting Coordinator, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Finance Assistant, or hospitality accounting experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, and operational accounting processes.

Experience using hotel accounting systems, PMS platforms, Excel, procurement systems, and financial reporting tools preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, compliance, operational efficiency, and financial integrity.

Positive attitude with a collaborative, dependable, and team-oriented mindset.

CPA track, accounting certifications, or hospitality finance experience preferred.

Flexible availability including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and operational support as needed.

A passion for hospitality, financial operations, teamwork, operational excellence, and supporting exceptional guest experiences through strong business performance.
