Day in the Life: Staff Accountant

We are excited to invite a new Team Member to join our Finance team! In this entry-level role, you'll have the opportunity to support our team by reviewing assigned General Ledger (GL) accounts and preparing journal entries with the guidance of our experienced staff. You'll also assist with monthly reconciliations, variance analysis, and the filing of miscellaneous taxes. This position is a fantastic way to build a strong foundation in core accounting functions and set yourself up for growth into an Accountant role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist with month-end close processes, completing assigned close tasks accurately and on schedule

Prepare and record journal entries for assigned GL accounts, for review and approval by senior staff

Perform monthly account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts and complete basic account analysis

Research account discrepancies and recommend corrections to senior staff

Prepare and post recurring monthly accruals; assist with quarterly and annual accruals

Maintain organized supporting documentation for journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities

Prepare summaries of findings to be reviewed by senior staff

Support year-end financial audits, including gathering requested schedules and documentation

Assist in preparing and filing Sales/Use, Gross Receipt, and other miscellaneous taxes

Participates in special projects and handles all other assigned duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree with major in Accounting or Finance

2-3 years of accounting experience

Understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP), including debits/credits, accruals, and reconciliations

Familiarity with accounting software, such as NetSuite or SAP

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, lookups, pivot tables) and other computer software and applications

Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and apply feedback from senior team members

Strong attention to detail; accuracy is paramount

Ability to remain calm and focused with prioritizing requests from multiple sources

Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information

Ability to communicate clearly and precisely when relaying technical accounting and finance information

Ability to travel (minimal, < 10%)

This job operates in a physical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to handle and lift objects up to 10 pounds.
