Description

POSITION: Resident Director & Staff Recruiter

FLSA : Exempt

SECRETARIAT: Office of Catholic Schools

JOB TYPE: Full-Time

INTRODUCTION:

The Bishop of Manchester is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular diocese entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocesan Administration Building helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. All employees of the diocesan administration assist the Bishop of Manchester in serving the parishes, schools and institutions of the Catholic Church in New Hampshire.

This is a Full-Time position reporting to the Executive Director of Camping Services,

under the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Camp Fatima is a Catholic summer camp for boys ages 6–15 and home to Special Needs Week. The Resident Director leads Camp Fatima year-round as a joyfully Catholic community, following the Preventive System of St. John Bosco. This position also serves as the staff recruiter for Camp Fatima, Camp Bernadette, and Special Needs Week. In the off season, staff recruitment is the primary focus of the role: the Resident Director works closely and collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Camp Bernadette Resident Director, and others in the camps’ office to recruit, hire, and form staff, develop programs, and build relationships with Camp Fatima families.

During the summer season, this position lives at camp and is responsible for all operational functions of Camp Fatima for Boys, including Special Needs Week.

As staff recruiter, this position sources candidates for Camp Bernadette; the Camp Bernadette Resident Director screens and hires Camp Bernadette staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Serve as Camp Fatima’s mission and spiritual leader, partnering with the Camp Chaplain and Faith Formation Directors on the daily rhythm of faith,
  • Must live at camp during the summer sessions to manage all operations and personnel,

  • Oversee and develop the program with the Program Director, including redesigned Junior and Intermediate experiences and new activities, schedules, and faith formation, with measurable goals to track their success,
  • Manage Special Needs Week at Camp Fatima, including planning, staffing and volunteer recruitment, training, and on-site operations, ensuring each camper with special needs is safely supported and fully included in camp life,
  • Shape the camper experience: a welcoming arrival day where every camper is known by name, earned responsibility for returning campers, and a strong closing that sends campers home with a story to tell,
  • Ensure camper safety and care under Diocesan safe-environment policy, the camps’ internal safety standards, and N.H. Youth Recreation Camp licensing, and monitor safety and crisis management plans, including all emergency procedures. Maintain American Camp Association (ACA) standards and accreditation for Camp Fatima,

  • Manage the applicant pipeline for both camps and report regularly to the Executive Director on applications, offers, acceptances, staff return rate, and open positions,
  • Maintain consistent hiring standards and paperwork across both camps, tracking completion of references, background checks, and safe-environment requirements in coordination with the Camp Bernadette Resident Director,
