Franchise: This team will build the foundation for Jobber’s customers franchise offering, helping franchisors and multi-location service businesses manage growth across brands, locations, users, permissions, reporting, and operational workflows. This team will tackle deep product and platform challenges, from scalable account architecture and Partner HQ experiences to lead routing, royalty reporting, onboarding, and partner-specific tooling. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape how Jobber supports complex customers, starting with franchise groups while creating flexible systems that can grow into broader channel partnership needs.

The role of Staff Software Engineer at Jobber:

As a technical champion and force multiplier, you lead and mentor teams of exceptional engineers while collaborating closely with Product and Design partners to tackle complex technical challenges. Your expertise spans architecture, design, and hands-on coding, allowing you to have a significant impact on the product and our customers. A portion of your time is allocated to "Staff Dev Projects," which may include cross-team initiatives, work acceleration within your team, exploration of emerging technologies, addressing technical debt, or investing in the future of engineering at Jobber. In addition, you customize, extend and experiment with tools, models, harnesses and processes to increase the effectiveness of yourself, your team and mentor others to do the same.

Responsibilities Breakdown:

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and iteratively deliver high-impact features that address customer needs

Partner with Product and Design teams to shape and define the strategic product roadmap

Identify and lead large-scale initiatives that drive innovation across multiple teams or departments

Actively participate in code reviews and testing processes to ensure code quality and maintainability

Champion the development of consistent engineering practices and reusable code solutions to enhance overall efficiency

Lead and facilitate group discussions to drive consensus on optimal solutions for complex customer problems

Research, promote, and implement industry best practices within your team's domain, staying at the forefront of technological advancements

Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders

Provide mentorship and guidance to team members at all levels, fostering their professional growth and career development

To be successful, you should have:

Demonstrated expertise in developing highly scalable, robust software solutions across multiple layers of the technology stack

Daily hands-on experience building with agentic AI tools, beyond autocomplete or chat: you delegate real work to agents as part of how you ship.

Proven leadership experience in guiding teams through complex, high-impact projects and serving as a technical lead

Exceptional proficiency in software design, architecture, and coding, with a focus on maintainability and performance

Strong self-motivation and resourcefulness, with the capacity to independently identify and leverage necessary resources for project delivery and problem-solving

Ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize tasks effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments

Passionate commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, with a track record of staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends

We believe great collaboration is intentional, and sometimes that means coming together in person to build, brainstorm, and connect. To support this, the role is open to candidates based in one of our hub cities: Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo.

Compensation:

At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and supportive of your experience and growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $169,200, a midpoint of $199,100, and a maximum salary of $228,900, designed to reflect the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling.
