Description
Strategic Business Development Manager
Azamara Cruises · Australia — [NSW/ACT or QLD] · Remote, full-time
Azamara Cruises, The Global Leader in Destination Immersion®, is growing in Australia and we're looking for a Strategic Business Development Manager to own and grow a territory of travel-trade partnerships. You'll be the face of Azamara to agencies across your region, turning strong relationships into real commercial growth for a premium brand people love to sell. It's a remote role with genuine autonomy, real travel, and the backing of a high-performing global team.
About Azamara
Azamara is a premium cruise line built around Destination Immersion. More time in port, more overnights, and signature experiences like our AzAmazing Evenings that guests can't find anywhere else. We sail curious, passionate travelers deeper into the world's most remarkable places, with a world-class experience both onboard and ashore. It's a brand with a devoted following and real momentum, and a story you'll love telling.
About the role
As Strategic Business Development Manager, you'll identify and develop new business across your assigned territory while nurturing the growth of your strategic accounts. You'll build and deliver sales and marketing plans for a portfolio of travel partners, and spot opportunities across every channel of distribution: Trade, MICE, and Commercial Partners. Above all, you'll be Azamara's ambassador in market, delivering against the commercial plan set for your region.
What you'll do
Grow your territory and strategic accounts
- Build and deliver an account plan for your portfolio — opening new business, deepening relationships, and reaching beyond the traditional travel arena.
- Manage a portfolio of trade partners, including strategic accounts, with account and sales management at every level.
- Identify and act on opportunities that can accelerate growth across your region.
- Drive business development activity for your region's Top 75 accounts to deliver against plan.
Partner, plan, and deliver
- Develop and implement activity plans that meet the commercial targets and KPIs set for each partner.
- Hold monthly and quarterly account-plan reviews with your top trade partners to understand their needs and realize opportunities.
- Work with sales leadership and account teams to build a business plan for each top partner.
- Deliver a structured training program across your portfolio, covering product and selling group cruise holidays.
- Partner with the Sales Support team to keep the travel-agent distribution channel firing.
- Work with the sales team and our Miami team to develop and realize MICE opportunities.
Use insight and represent the brand
- Use BI and insights to shape your activity and work with our analysts to measure the ROI of business development funds.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and marketing, and adapt your strategy as the travel and cruise industry shifts.
- Be the expert on Azamara's products, services, and brand.
- Host and attend consumer and trade events — expos, exhibitions, and trade fairs — and lead client educational trips such as Seminars at Sea, ship launches, and ship visits.
- Take on ad hoc analysis and projects that support our strategic growth.
What you'll bring
- At least 3 years' experience in the cruise, travel, hospitality, or hotel sector in a commercial or account-management capacity, with strong commercial acumen across business development, sales, and marketing.
- A track record of success in business development and strategic account management in the travel sector.
- A proven ability to deliver sales and marketing plans and manage your business proactively to meet objectives.
- Confident presentation, public-speaking, and negotiation skills, with the credibility to influence at every level.
- Strong project-management, problem-solving, and change-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and a natural ability to build relationships both internally and externally.
- Self-motivation, resilience, and adaptability. You can shift plans as commercial needs change in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work variable hours and travel across your territory (around 25–50%+), with a current Australian Driver's License.
Why you'll love working here
We're a growing, transformative company with a multicultural, global team and a culture built on curiosity, sustainability, integrity, accountability, and passion. You'll have real ownership of your territory, the support of a high-performing team, and the kind of travel that reminds you why you love this industry.
- Remote-first, flexible working, based in Australia
- Competitive salary, superannuation, and incentive plan
- Genuine territory ownership
- A premium brand, with a loyal following, that people are proud to sell
