Vizient Intern Program Overview:

This program is designed to foster a beneficial relationship and provide growth opportunities for Vizient, our employees, and collegiate students. Since 2000, our summer intern program has provided college undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students with practical experience that exposes them to multiple aspects of a career field and the healthcare industry. This full-time, paid intern program offers an opportunity to accelerate academic learning, apply classroom knowledge, and introduce students to a professional setting. Interns are assigned a supervisor to mentor/develop their business skills, as well as monitor their work experiences. Interns are integral members of the company’s team, setting goals, working toward deadlines, and actively participating in community service projects.

The program requires the intern to commit to 10 weeks of participation in all formal training, mentoring, on-the-job learning, and opportunities to interact with senior leaders.

  • Program starts June 8, 2026, and ends August 14, 2026
  • 40 hours per week with a pay rate of $24 per hour.

What we will do:

We provide the tools and training necessary to succeed, as well as provide intentional development opportunities such as:

  • Exposure to senior leadership to discuss the project, strategy, and milestones.
  • Network opportunities with cross-functional teams to learn about various areas within the organization.
  • Personalized strengths coaching.
  • Participate in company meetings and key culture events.
  • Value-added project management skills.
  • Intern-led community impact project and various team-building activities outside of work.

What you will do:

We are seeking an undergraduate or graduate-level intern to support the Indirect Spend team on key projects that enhance member resources, strengthen supplier engagement, and explore growth opportunities in non-bid categories. This role offers direct exposure to supplier management, category strategy, and project execution within a leading healthcare performance improvement company. Maintain and update internal SharePoint content, including the VizTech Knowledge Hub and other team pages.

Supplier Segmentation & Enablement:

  • Build and enhance SharePoint pages to serve as centralized repositories for resources, templates, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Category Managers to refresh tools, templates, and materials for supplier onboarding, engagement, and performance measurement.

Bid & Contracting Support:

  • Assist in pulling and analyzing data to build RFPs.
  • Participate in supplier research, bid evaluation, financial analysis, and scoring.
  • Document bid strategies and support supplier negotiations through note-taking and process tracking.
  • Support Category Managers with key contracting tasks, including redlining/negotiations, creating iCertis headers, managing CIRF requests, developing contract briefs, onboarding suppliers, and coordinating internal training and engagement activities

Non-Bid Category Development:

  • Research potential new categories by assessing suppliers, member usage, market share, growth potential, and revenue impact.
  • Prepare and facilitate discussions with Advisory peers to support category research.
  • Partner with Category Managers to engage potential suppliers, complete NDAs, and document recommendations for category growth.
  • Conduct due diligence on at least two new categories and prepare findings for leadership review.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Create presentations, briefing documents, and SharePoint content for internal stakeholders.
  • Provide project updates and deliverables to leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

What you will need:

  • Enrolled in a four-year accredited college, university, or graduate program in good academic standing.
  • Must have completed the sophomore year as an undergraduate before the start of the internship, or have recently completed your degree.
  • Basic understanding of working in a hybrid environment, workplace ethics, and effective communication.
  • Good organization and planning skills, and demonstrate effective project coordination, facilitation, and implementation based on past work or school experiences.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize information for problem-solving are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting across the team and potentially with internal Vizient business partners, external members, and suppliers.
