This position is located in Philadelphia, PA. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience leading teams and projects managing contractors in support of engineering analyses in the development of flood risk products related to floodplain mapping, dams and levees in support of FEMA flood risk analysis and mapping programs.
Duties
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will perform program and engineering work in support of the National Flood Insurance Program and Mitigation Division goals to reduce or eliminate long-term risks to people and property from hazards and their effects. Typical assignments include: Leading staff in managing and overseeing highly technical and complex projects for floodplain mapping, dams and levees Recommending technical direction and coordinating with other Regional Project Officers in conducting flood risk studies and mapping. Reviewing completed work submitted by Regional mapping partners for technical adequacy of results and to determine conformance with FEMA policies, procedures, and methods. Collaborating with Federal Agencies, State Agencies, Tribes, local governments and other stakeholders in the development and review of flood hazard information. Serving in grants administration and contracting functions, including Contracting Officer's Technical Representative. What else do I need to know? At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
