Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Office of Executive Assistant Commissioner, Budget Division/Formulation, located in Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Duties

In this position, you will serve as a first-line supervisor responsible for supporting and managing subordinate staff, developing and evaluating policies in assigned program areas, taking necessary action to achieve organizational objectives, and recommending future program objectives and improvements. This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Typical duties include: Directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing a division and/or branch within CBP overseeing various functions and/or administrative programs Developing, implementing, and monitoring automated systems that focus on long and short range plans, policies and programs Overseeing programs to determine progress against long-range plans and determine necessary personnel, funding, and other resource adjustments Directing and planning work to be accomplished by subordinates with various branches within the agency Providing advice to supervisor of significant issues and problems related to work accomplishments GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Directing, coordinating, and evaluating administrative or management programs to improve organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity Conducting complex studies and analyses of program operations, policies, procedures, and resource requirements, and developing recommendations for senior leadership Providing technical advice and analytical support to management on planning systems, management programs, policy implementation, and organizational improvement initiatives Leading or participating in cross-functional teams, studies, or task forces to analyze organizational challenges, coordinate program activities, and implement process improvements Preparing briefings, presentations, reports, impact statements, and recommendations for senior leadership on complex program, policy, legislative, or operational issues NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/01/2026.
